COMMISSIONERS.

Batata Preaeat Dlfacaateas.
The following letter is one which
no doubt will be read with much
interest by the people of Ardmore
as it pertains directly to our city.
It should be understood that all
the business of the townsite ap
praisers here is conveyed to the in
terior department through the com
missioner of Indian affairs at
Washington and to him Colonel
Samuel Johnson submitted his let
ter also the request of the city
council and the citizens' committe
regarding lots' streets and boun
daries.
Commissioner of Indian Affairs
Tanner forwarded all the documents
to the Interior department and the
following is the reply of that de
partment to the commissioner of
Indian affairs a copy of which has
been forwarded to the townsite
commissioners here and by them
given to the Ardmobeite for pub-
lication and publicity.
Herewith the letter:
Department of the Interior
Washington D. C. Oct. 18 1899.
Commissioner of Indian Affairs.
Sir: The department is in receipt
of a communication from tbe acting
commissioner dated the 13th. inst.
enclosing therewith a report from the
Chickasaw Townsite Commission
dated the 5th. inst. forwarding com-
munications from the town council
and committees of the Commercial
Club of Ardmore in the Chickasaw
nation relative to the survey and
platting of said town.
In the report of said Townsite Com
mission reference.is made to tbe com-
munication signed by the commmittee
of the Commercial Club the Citizens'
Committee and members of the city
conncil dated September 26. request-
ing said commission
First: To survey and plat tbe town
of Ardmore said survey to comprise
certain sections therein specifically
set out; the whole amounting to 2020
acres. Attached to said communica-
tion is also a sketch showing the lim-
its desired by the petitioners. Said
petitioners also make certain other
requests as follows:
Second: That the commission lay
out a street eighty or one hnndred
feet in width around tbe entire limits
of tbe town and designate tbe prop-
er alignment of the adjoining lots
and blocks fronting on said street.
Third: That the survey and plat
conform as near as practicable to the
present plat of tbe town.
Fourth : Tbat no attempt be made
to make the tize of the lots uniform
upon which permanent and valua-
ble improvements have been made.
Fifth: Tbat a separite appraise
ment be made of business and resi-
dence lots upon which permanent
and valuable improvements hate
been made provided the same do not
infringe upon any block street ave-
nue or alley and that "no lot or
block shall include in area more than
400 by 600 feet."
Sixth Tbat the more remote un
improved residence part of the town
be surveyed and platted and sold in
blocks rather than lots for the rea-
son that a large lot or block in said
locality would bring a fair price
while smaller lots would bring very
little and it is requested that such
lands be platted and sold in blocks
of five acres each or smaller lots.
The Townsite Commission state
that parts of sections 29 and 32 not
included in tbe sketch attached to
tbe request of said petitioners have
no improvements upon them being
covered by a dense forest with such
an undergrowth of brush tbat it will
take considerable time and expense
to survey them into lots and blocks;
that thirty acres ia tbe northeast
corner of section 29 is delineated
npon a plat furbished by tbe depart-
ment "as a reservoir owned by the
Gulf Colorado and Santa Fe railway
company1' and said Commission
therefore recommends tbat it "be
instructed to survey plat and estab-
lish the limits of tbe town ' of Ard-
more Indian Territory to conform
as near as practicable" with the re-
quest of said petitioners.
Tiie acting commissioner states
tbat except as to the limits of the
town toe : resolution of the city
council and the request of the Citi-
zens' Committee concur In all essen-
tial respects; tbat no instructions to
the Commission are necessary rela-
tive to the requests numbered three
four and five.

An adverse recommendation
made by the acting commissioner
relative to the size of the blocks in
the unimproved tracts of tbe town
and it is recommended tbat said
blocks shall be three hundred feet

tbe lots to be one hundred by one
hundred and fifty feet with sufficient
land to be taken from the depth of
each lot to establish an alley sixteen
feet in width in eacb block where
necessary.
The Department concurs in the
recommendations of the acting com
missioner and you will advise said
Townsite Commission accordingly. .

A woman is never so
womanly ao beautiful ao
happy as when she ia a
mother. Yet motherhood
ia denied to aome women
and feared by others.
The fear of motherhood is rapidly passing-
away aad nothing has done so much to
drive it away as tbe record of Dr. Pierce'a
Favorite Prescription.
Dr. Pierce has held that danger and para
at the time of parturition were really un-
necessary and unnatural and that if every
woman were healthy and strong ns Nature
meant-ber to be thia function would be per-
formed painlessly and safely. The abuse
of centuries of corsets of health destroy-
mgf inactivity of de-
bilitating artificial life
have made it impos-
sible for some women
to fully return to the
perfect healthfulness
of a natural state but
every woman may be
helped to a large de-
gree. The organs di-
rectly involved may
be strengthened pu-
rified invigorated for
the time of trial and
for this purpose Dr.
Pierce's Favorite Pre-
scription has been
used with success
by hundreds of thou-
sands of women. It
is the product of the
skill and experience'
of a Tegularly gradu-
ated physician a
skilled specialist who
for over thirty years has successfully
treated the diseases of women.
Unlike many modern medicines Dr.
Pierce's Favorite Prescription contains no
whisky alcohol sugar syrup opium or
narcotic of any kind and its use does not
therefore create a craving for stimulants.
Mrs. Annie Blacker of 639 Catherine St. Syra-
cuse. N. V.. writes: " Your medicine have done
wonders for me. For years my health was very
poor: I bad four miscarriages but since taking
for. Pierce's GoMen Medical Discovery and ' Fa-
vorite Prescription ' I have much better health
and I now have a fine healthy baby."
