The German and British accounts
of the NortTi sea battle the greatest
marine battle ever fought so far as
forces engaged are concerned hanj

a mistake. On the other hand the

Representative Paul Nesbitt does
not believe in the public officials of
Oklahoma sending the taxpayers
money outside of the slate to build
Up other concerns at the expense ot
home Industries. ; He has introduced
a till that will require al! counties
townships and municipalities as well
as the public officials of the state
to procure their stationery Wank

the state of Oklahoma where sueJi
supplies can be had within the state.

officers into purchasing supplies tor

than if only such supplies as are
needed were purchased at home from
home concerns.

BILLY SUNDAY'S TALK.
Those who huVe heard Billy Sun
day prruatj i'm slid his worlc -n
spite of some siaring faultu of tm
prencher. He was rewarded at the
clcse of the first week of Ms Miila-
deiphia meetings 'bV receiving:
coinerts so that nobody can dispute
ihe magnetic effectiveness of the
man. If he fails to hold all cr a grett
proportion of those that he gains this
is not altogether his fault but i
probably chiefly theirs. Neverthe-
less it is partly due to a narrow and
to old fashioned conception of ''sin '
which Sunday preaches. Following
is a sample from one of the Phila
delphia sermons the other day:
'Evervthing the devil's in favor or
i"m against" he shouted. "I'm
aemnst the theater because the
devil's in favor of it. Tni against
booze and I'm against card partita
because the devil's in favor of them.
"And let me tell -you" he cried
:i'm against the rotten licentious
dances tfiaL' have assassinated the
characters of more girls than any-
thing else in the world. 1 don't cara
if you (io have them in your lodge oi
your club or your home or yot.r
cht rch or your iparish nmise or your
social settlement . or your mission.
'It's the devil's principal part to wreck
wtmen. I'll rii them to hell and
breakfast and baeS again."
Letting the devil decide for hint U
do' the most intelligent way to go
through life though it may be the
easiest way to slide through. Be
cause the devil is for card playing.
Sunday is against card piaytng. An
with dancing the drama and other
diverslous and amusements likewise
corsidered by him to b? sinful.
!t there is one thing that accounts
fo." the longevity of the Catholic
church i is on the co-trary
troader and deeper conception w
"sin." Tie Catholic church attribute
all sin to seven .broad general causes-
rather to seven Intrinsic parts of the
human structure or the human heart.
These seven human qualities are
gluttony lust envyi anger pride
covetousness (avarice) and sloth. It
may be that others should be addeu.
for instance fear. But these sources
of evil living are broad and dee?:
they go to the soul of the matter.
It !s not dancing therefore that Is
objectionable but lust For every
dancer who es wrong because oi
lust thousands are unhurt by this
diversion. The same is to be. said o'
ca:d playing. It Is not card playlmr
that is a sin it is covetousness or
greed but for every card player who
becomes a habitual gambler a thou-
sand card p'ayers are unharmed by
tbj game. Would not Sunday better
denounce banking or any other
moneyed Ibusiness? To the extent
that brilliant but not entirely soun l
preachers like Sunday attribute th'-
evil and sin in the world to wrong
causes and overlook the real enemy
it can not be said perhaps that they
do liarm fcy their preaching hut they
fall short of doing the good that their
eloquence and magnetic qualities
should' enable them to do.
