WANT THREE JAILS.
Department of Justice at Washington
Will Ask for Them for the
Indian Territory.
Mr. Frank S. Genung chief
office deputy of this district re
turned from Washington yes-
terday looking hale and hearty
and fresh as a daisy. During
his week's stay in Washington
he spent most of his time in the
department of justice offices
and being well acquainted with
the attorney general as well as
his subordinates he was able
to give the Capital representa
tive some interesting informa
tion.
Mr. Genung says it is the in-
tention of the department of
justice to go to congress and
ask for the building of three
large jails in the Indian Terri
tory to cost not less than $34000
each these jails to be located
at points easy of access and to
be large enough to hold all the
criminals in the Territory. It
is contemplated by the depart
ment to build these jails on
modern plans and to provide
ample room for criminals for
some time to come. Capital.

Schools for the Territory.
Some months ago the G. A.
R. of the Indian Territory en-
dorsed and sent to the congress
of the United States a memor-
ial asking that a fund be ap-
propriated for the establishing
of free schools in the Indian
Territory for the benefit of the
white children living in the
Territory. This memorial is
now being considered by the
committee appointed to pre-
pare legislation for the five
tribes. They are favorably im-
pressed with the plan.
