Miss Fay Trumbull Comes
Highly Recommended.
Speaking of the nceomplishments of
Miss Trumbull who comes to O. M.
P. ns her1 successor Miss Ada 11.
Woodward says;
"In correspondence with her I in
terested her in the possibility ot
musical development in th) west and
she wrote her sister Fay who re
sides in Chicago. 1 visited Miss Fay
Trumbull in Chicago in August and
found her to be n young woman oi
charming personality poise and cul
ture. This aside from the undis
puted fact that she is an artist
teacher and performer means much;
for young ipeople unconsciously aih.
sorb to some extent the character
istics and ideals of teachers with
whom they come in contact.
"Miss Trumbull studied with
Leschetizky for years and with such
well (known understudies as Dree and
Prentner who wrote the Leseheti'y
method books. One of these books is
used almost universally by sincere
teachers of the Leschetizky school.
In this way the student has definite
ideas technique! developed system-
atically and has the material in col-
lection form for his own future use.
This is much more tangible for the
student than having technical exer-
cises doled out one at a time keeping
the student at the entire meicy
of the teacher for his develop-
ment. It is our aim to present
technique sn systematically and
clearly that a student can build on
when thrown on his own resources.
"While In Vienna I studied also in !
the Godowsky school. Godowsy!
left for an American concert tour the
day I had an interview with him and
he placed me wtih an understudy
Thomas Kenyon of London. While
Leschetizky is the greatest of old
masters Godowsky is a great modern
master lie charges twenty dollars a
lesson.
"Miss Trumbull studied wtih dodo -
Wfcky himself for two years before;"
studying with Leschetizky. We ex-
pect her to have a reputation second
to none In this part of the country.
She will be ready to coach aspiring
concert pianists and teachers. The
university hopes to make Guthrie a
great muski center.
"Guthrie has a very remarkable
amount of unusual talent. Oklahoma
is to be congratulated at receiving
Miss Trumbull as a teacher."
