LAST NIGHT'S STORM.
A Cyclone Thought to Have VUttcd the
Scctloa South of and Close to Ardmore
A Funnel Shaped Cloud Visible.
A number of our people having the
fear of God at heart and the fear of
the devil in their minds were una-
ble to Bleep last night during the
turmoil in the clouds. From them
it is learned that at about 2 o'clock
this morning a funnel shaped cloud
was distinctly visible to the south-
west traveling in an easterly direc-
tion and that when at a point south
from here the roaring of the storm
was plainly heard. The wind at
this place was continually shifting at
that time caused probably by the
suction of the cyclone.
Later developments will probably
verify their statement and show the
track of the storm.

The bondsmen of Fred Wilson
who was granted bail on a .5000
bond by Judge Bryant brought him
in last night and surrendered him to
the officers. Deputy McMurray
tock him to Paris this morning.
Readers of the Ardmoreite will
remember Wilson as being the man
who was arraigned before Commis-
sioner Gibbons and committed to
Paris jail on a charge of burning the
entire Tucker family who occupied a
log cabin on the bayou some time
last winter.
His bondsmen had learned that he
was making arrangements to leave

How Little Jinks Died.
Moran Scott who came in yester
day from South McAlester informs
us that he attended the funeral of
little "Jinks" Stuart.
The killing was purely accidental.
Judge and Mrs. Stuart had been
watching the game with their two
little boys. They got tired and went
home leaving the little boys in
charge of a man who wanted to stay.
They were standing some distance
behind the catcher. Little "Jinks"
between Roy and the man each one
holding one of his hands. A ball
was thrown by tne pitcner wnicn
the catcher let pass. It struck the
ground and bounced striking the
little fellow on the breast just over
the heart. He never breathed but
sank down dead.
The funeral was largely attended
all the business houses closed and
the people showed all the respect
possible to the family.
The grave was lined with cloth
and filled with flowers. Gainesville

Wedding Oa the Scasatloaal Order
This Moraine A Case of Marry or
Take the Consequences.
There was a wedding this morning
in the clerk's office the consumma-
tion of which was attended by a
deep dyed tinge of the sensational.
As the earnest request of the ag-
grieved father of the bride the
names of the contracting parties are
withheld. It was a case that re
quired determination to see the
right done by his daughter at the
hands of her villainous betrayer.
The bride shows by her appearance
to belong to a good family only
seventeen years old and possessed
of accomplishments. She had been
betrayed and no doubt would soon
have been abandoned had not the
enraged father put in bis timely ap
pearance and demanded a wedding.
The parties do not live in Ardmore
or the Indian Territory.

BritM u July 27.
The band boys have determined to
give a picnic on July 27 in honor of
the approaching anniversary of the
city. July 3 la our natal day proper
but this year It occurs on Sunday
hence they will observe Saturday
the 27th.
The details of the program have
not yet been arranged but the Ann-
moksitk Is assured It will be elabor-
ate and fully appropriate to the oc-
casion. The time for action Is short but if
everybody will take hold with their
characteristic vim It can be made a
success.
Oar people cannot afford to let this
important occasion go by unobserved
for to do so would be to show a fall-
ing off in local pride. No city in the
world has greater cause to feel proud
of wonderful achievements than has
Ardmore.
The band boys have taken the mat-
ter of a proper celebration in hand
but nnless tt y meet with co-opera
tion they cannot accomplish their
purpose as successfully as the im
portance of the occasion demands.
Go to work with a determination
to make our approaching natal day
the grandest in the history of our be
loved city.

The proceedings of the Interna
tional Council at Eufaula will be
found in this issue. It seems that
none but bitter speeches were made
against the efforts of the government
to secure a change of land tenure and
of government. To those who know
the drift of sentiment in the states
and who see the impossibility of the
present situation continuing it seems
very strange that not one of these
men who assume to be and are lead
era of their people can see it; and
that not one will advise them to
change while conditions are most fa
vorable and when they are invited to
name the terms that are most advan
tageous to them. Hon. Amos Henry
is right when he says that if the In
dians trade with the Dawes commis-
sion the trade will be advantageous to
the Indian; but if congress makes the
terms it will be advantageous to the
white man. It is not worth while to
say that the change will not come. It
will come and is not far distant.

' It Was a Mistake.
This afternoon a ripple of excite
ment was occasioned by the report
that a dead man had been found in
the negro church on the Berwyn
road in the locality of the Ice tac
tory. Investigation proved the re
port to be untrue. It seems that a
boy was passing by the building and
noticed a man lying inide who look
ed very much as tnougn be was
dead. He reported the fact to
others and quite soon people in
great numbers began to strike out
for the scene the Ardmorkitk
porter among them. The boy bad
seen a man but only a crazy one
who it appears had taken refuge for
a nap in the house. Thus a fine
sensation was spoiled.
