The movement to have the
Fort Sill country open to white
s ttlement maybe delayed for a
time but the day is not far distant
when it will end in succe8. There
is too. much good land th.re that
would make thousands of happy
homftp for it to remain in posses-
sion of the Indians cnttle barons
and cayotes. The people are the
rightful owners ot the lands and
they cannot be kept out by posses-
sion All Northwest Texas is in
this movement and
the slogan 'On to Fort Sill."
thould never die out until the
p-omieland land has been reached.
Fort Worth Mail.
There appeared in yesterdays
Akdmoueite a card suggesting the
advisability of establishing an
assay plant in Ardmore thus
furnishing facilities for testing
any minerals which may abound
'in this country. It would certain-
be a good investment an j would
encourjge prospecting for the hid-
den wealth which beyond any
doubt exist in the country tribu-
tary to Ardmore. Such a plant
culd be put in at a nominal ex
pense and in the band: of a com-
petent assayer would prove of
great value to the town in devel-
eping the country's resources.
We would suggest to tome inter-
ested party or parties thu they
confer wi h the gintleman who;
conceived the id a a ad brought it
ut in the notice mer-tioaed.
Ths action of congress yester-
day in passing the McCreary reso-
lution condemning ex-Minister
Stevens for hi3 interference in
Ha.raiian affiirs and endorsing
he cswuse pursued by the presi-
dent in the same manner is another
victory for Mr. Cleveland in his
ftattle for the right. The causes
that led up to the owr'hrow of
the queen of Hawaii are too well
known now and the motives that
prompted the adventurers who
ried to steal her covcrnment by
the aid of United States troops
were of such a character that
th re was but ono course for Pres-
ident Clevelan 1 to pursue and be
ha I t't he manho d ij pursue it.
His action was right and congress
was rght in endorsing it Foit

When a United States S3nator
conceives tbe brilliant idea that he
is a bigger man than his constitu-
ency and the president himself it
is time he be rjlegaed to the
shades of private life. Mr; Hill
has alwnys been an obstacle to
his party and in order to tatiate
his malice toward Grover Cleve-
