Parafiin is one of the most valuable
products of petroleum and its manufac-
ture has beeu brought to such perfection
that it is scarcely possiblo to improve
upon it. By the most approved processes
tho wax is redistilled for the purpose
of reducing to the desired gravity and
crystallizing tho wax. Then the oil is
frozen by proces-sea similar to those eiur
ployed for producing artificial ice. The
apparatus for this work is of tho most
complete and scientific ''construction.
Enormously powerful pumps force the
frozen oil into filter presses and convert
the wax into a solid cake. The uses ol
parafiin are manifold and every. detail
of its manufacture is of the greatest in-
terest to all scientists. .New York ;
