In one of the Atlanta 8undafeschools
recently the lesson for the day had to
do with Mammon and the corrupting
Influences of great riches.
Toward the olose of the exercises,
says Harper's Magazine, the superin-
tendent called upon t^e Infant class
to repeat the gdlden text, which had
special reference to man's Inability to
serve his Creator and the money god
at one and the same time. The class
failed to respond as it should, when
the superintendent, noticing -his own
young hopeful In the ranks, who had
that very morning been drilled thor-
oughly on the text, called to him. The
response was Immediate, though a
slight departure from the prlginal, for
In a voice that waa distinctly heard In
all parts of the room there .came the
following modification: • /
"Ye cannot serve God and tnamma!”

Indians arrived In Muskogee and are
deeding their lands to buyers who
had prevloualy paid them a small sum
with the promise to pay the full
price after August 8. Land men have
their agents in all parts of the Creek
nation who are not only buying the
lands of mixed bloods, holding that

“I was very badly alfilcted with ecze-

all tho cures advised by old women
and quacks, and found no relief what-
ever until I commenced using the Cu-

“My friend, Will Long Is no nature

closely to resemble that of a little boy
I know.
"The boy's teacher said from her

” ‘I want every pupil who has never
told a lie to hold up his hand.”
“There waa a doubtful pause. Two
or throe hands were raised. Then my
little friend piped out:

The yacht was heavily becalmed.
There were but ten bottles of cham-
pagne in the lockers. Their last signal
of distress had been sent up, without
bringing any response.
"Gentlemen,” exclaimed the commo-
dore, In a quaVerlng voice, “I can no
longer conceal the hideous truth from
you. Sobriety stares us In the face!"
It was a wildly various scene which
ensued. 8ome blasphemed, some
prayed, some, in an access of frenzied
wantonness, sang songs, while some
sat stoically by, awaiting their fato

Dr. C. F. Simmons, San Antonio. Texas. * J°’ T““’ ^
Dear Sir:—1 have ju*t returned from a visit to your 95,000-acre ranch,
where 1 have been for the purpose of investigating the conditions of eoB,
climate, rainfall, etc., and its adaptability to general farming, truck-growing
and fruit*.
1 found conditions rcnHy better than I expected, and*fully up to
representations in your literature. The soil teems to lie of tine quality snd
of such variety as to make diversified farming easy and profitable.
While on the ranch I had the pleasure of visiting Hall, Frenchman.
Turkey Creek. «iiidmill, Mu ley Cow and Headquarters pastures. I did
not see the Votaw nastures but was assured by disinterested parties that
it W’as even better than that which I examined, and believing this 1 came
home perfectly satisfied that you have the best proposition, for the poor
man, in Southwest Texas.
On farms adjoining your ranch I saw fine crops growing without irriga-
tion. and this 1 consider remarkable in view of the severe drought, which
obtains at this time over the entire state.
I am sure this will prove to be a fine fruit-growing section, especially
for grapes, figs und berries, and that the water supply is sufficient seems
certainly to w profed by the flowing artesian wells in various parts of
posture, and this also settles the truck growing proposition.
You have my hearty endorsement on both your lands and plan of sale.
Very truly yours,
DR. T. E. FOSTER
Remember—you get s truck or fruit farm of from 10 to 640 acres in tha
finest country in the world, and two town lots for |2l0.
