THE MANCHESTER JOURNAL
FRIDAY, JAN. 22, 1809
Will be at the Manchester Opera
House Saturday Night, Jan. 30.
Ned has been here a number
of times and the people look for-
ward to his coming with pleasure.
Few entertainers hold the patronage of
the people as does he. He tells us
that he has an original program of mu-
sic, impersonations, imitations, fun and
foolishness that pleases and reaches
the spot
REMEMBER THE DATE AND COME.

♦ ANTHONY,
:
Beginning January 16 and continuing to March 1 there
will be the greatest sale of Furniture ever inaugurated
in Anthony.
We must reduce our stock. In order to do it we are
cutting the price on everything in the furniture and
carpet line, so that if you are in need of anything we
have, It will pay you to drive many miles to our store
to buy.
The big reduction in price includes Rockers, Dining
Tables, Buffets, China Closets, Sideboards, Kitchen
Cabinets, Iron Beds, Carpets, Linoleum, Mattings,
etc., etc., in fact everything in the furniture line, and
we have a stock that is second in size to none in the
southwest.

MARKET LETTER
peclai to the Journal.
Kansas City Stock Yards, Jan. 25,
1909. The cattle market was in a bad
way last week, and prices declined 20
to 35 cents on killing stuff in spite of
small receipts at all the markets.
Stockers and feeders met a good de-
mand, and held up much better than
fat steers, although the market on
them was Irregular from day to day.
The cattle run today is 12.000 head
here, market strong to 15 higher on
all kinds. Buyers had to be coaxed to
the peDs all of the last week, but
trade today is the oppsite of the drag-
gy conditions prevailent last week.
Very few well finished cattle have
been here since a week ago, and tnone
are here today, top steers 86.00, for
steers not much more than half fat.
Country buyers have taken out part-
ly finished steers lately at 85.50 to
$5.80, for a short feed of 30 to 40 days.
There is a moderate run at all the
markets today and the opinion pre-
vails that a large portion of the corn
feeding section has marketed bulk of
stuff on feed. Beef steers sell at
4 80 and upwards, with prime quality
quotable at 6.75, top heifers around
6.00, cows 5.50, bulk of she stuff 3.00
to 4.85, bulls 3.00 to 4.75, calves 75
cents to 1,00 lower than a week ago,
at 3 50 to 7 50, Stockers 3 25 to 5.25,
feeders 4 00 to 5.50.
Hog run of 98,000 head here last
week was 18,000 less than same week
last year, at which time supplies were
phenomenal at all the markets.
Prices advanced 5 to 10 cents last
week, and the market ls5 to 10 higher
today, run 11.000 head today. Heavy
buying of provisions by speculators
lately, and light selling of same by
packers has advanced the provision
market considerably during the last
week. This together with the ten-
dency of packers to hold the product,
lends a firm tone to trade, which is
further enchanced by some talk of re-
duced supplies of hogs on the market
in the near future. The top today
here is 6 40, a figure not reached on
lite sales, as the close was weak, prac-
tically everything above 200 selling at
6.15 to 6 35, light hogs 5 60 to 6 15,
pigs 4 75 to 5 50.
