condition and the estimated need* of said
county for the fiscal year ending June 30-
1 1912, was made, and the above la a true and

At Wichita a man complained to |
the police that he had been robbed
of $55 by a negro woman, in an |
alley in W'chita. Fifty-five dollars
is a pretty good wad these days, f
but smoked hams come high, and
if we had been that fellow, wouldnt |
have said a word about it.
They are making things lively in I
Wichita for Mayor Graham. Even |
in little things the hand of the dis-
gruntled can be seen. A man ap-
plied to the mayor for a job, and I
was rejected. Now the court has
issued a mandamus, requiring the]
mayor to appear and show reason
for not giving the man what he
wanted. What kind of goverment
do the Wichita people expect to |
get out of such chaos?
In the court house at Kansas
City there is a sign which reads, |
“ No kissing in here." The mar-
riage license clerk hung the sign |
after he had caught some young
couples in the act of kissing each I
other while waiting their turn to |
be married. The clerk, who is a
bachelor, says he cannot under-
stand why young people are so im-
patient for that first kiss. First I
dss? Does he really think that, |
or is he kidding?
The Grant County Vidette an-1
nounces that it is going to cut out
the patent "insides.” We are of
the op nion that this is a wise
move. Aside from the fact that
you have a little more folding to
do, a little more postage to pay,
and considerably higher paper bill
to meet every month, there is no
excuse on earth for the ready]
print.
