Mrs. Frank Miller, of Mangum,

We regret to chronicle the death

Mr. E. G. Hightower, of Paul’s

g relatives.
Mrs. B. C. Bennett and little
lghter left yesterday for Ver-

siting relatives.
Quite a number of covered
gons are coming in from Fort
11, the owners coming to work
the railroad here.
J. H. and J. W. Taylor and H.
Parker of Dent, O. T., after
gistering at the Fort, came over
visit J. R. McMahan.
It is becoming quite dry and
sty here, and the farmers are
ginning to complain of the
ought damaging the crops.

J. M. Dalton, W. D. Allen,

rough Altus yesterday on their
ay to Ft. Sill to register.
Misses Ludiic Johnson and
ate Forry, after a visit to Buf-

Postmaster Hatley informs us
at he has received orders from
e P. O. Department that the

ace will be Leger on and after
ctober the 1st.
Misses May and Pearl Gamble
companied Guy Gamble over
om Vernon last week and in
mpany with Miss Stella Mc-
ahan and Messrs E. R. and
ank Gamble went up to the
ort to register.
Our young friends E. V. Conkle
d W. J. McDaniel rigged them-
lves up with a buggy and horse
d the necessary provisions and
ut out for the Mecca of the new
mtry—Fort Sill—late Wednes-
ay evening. They made it into
e Fort without any trouble the
ext evening, but had to remain
the ground until their turn
me to register, which was Sat-
ay evening. Being dusty and
herwise fatigued from the new
anner of living they decided to
rt immediately for home. The
ext day their horse talked on
em just before getting into
reer county, and we learn that
ill McDaniel was so sick of be-
g on the road and so anxious to
t back to the best, little town in
klahoma that he deserted his
utfit and walked to town, the
ce being about fifteen miles.
Thousands Camped at Fort Sill.
Fort Sill, O. T. July 15.—Fort
Sill’s tented city reached its
flood tide this morning. For one
mile and a half on Cache creek,
which runs along the east side of
the military post, and for nearly
an equal distance along Medicine
creek, on the north side of the
post, tents and prairie schooners
were pitched on either side of
both streams in almost unbroken
lines. It is an ideal camping
ground and at night all manner
of innocent games were in prog-
ress. The 20,000 campers enjoy-
ed life to its utmost.
“It’s more fun than I could
have at home,” said the Texas
head of a large family. “Think
I’ll stay till the country opens.”
Twenty-five hundred applicants
registered yesterday, making a
total of 4,900 to register in three
days. With the military a request
is an order. Those having regis-
tered have no right to remain. If
the crowds become too large they
will have to move.

Mr. C. H. Cantrell’s little girl
met with an accident Tuesday,
falling from a chair off of the
galery to the ground, sustaining
an incomplete fracture of the
outer end of the collar bone. Dr.
Hagen, the attending physician,
reset the injury and we learn the
child is doing well.
E. E. Russell went up to Man-

signed by our people asking the
board of county commissioners
to incorporate the town under the
namo of Leger.
Thomas Martin came in from
Walnut Springs, Texas, yester-

Not having the consent of the
old folks Ebbie L. Cunningham
and Miss Fannie May Litchfield
from the Victory neighborhood
in this county, slipped over to

cured license and were joined to-
gether in wedlock. In speaking
of the event the Vernon Sun says
they “applied to County Clerk W.
B. Townsend for a marriage li-
cense. They wished it issued to
them immediately, if not sooner.
In reply to the affable officer’s
inquiry as to the age of the
youthful looking bride-to-be, the
