—Eruest Figett took liis girl to the
ice cream social at the U. B. church
Saturday night. When be bad
gotten home and bad started from
the livery stable to the hotel he saw
some queer actions from some fellow
lurking between the buildings on the
south side of the street. Tbe fellow
took fright and ran. Ernest, think-
ing to determine tbe direction he
took, stood still and listened. In so-
doiag he heard bottles rattling in
Jolly's saloon. Approaching tbe win-
dow he looked In and saw a man be-
hind tbe bar. Mot thinking bim to
be a burglar, Ernest asked tbe fellow
wbat be was doing. At ibis tbe
fellow made a break over tables,
ebairs and went through the hack
window with a crash. Ernest
trembled awhile and then looked
around the corner ot the Star restau-
rant. He saw the fellow sprinting
at a lively gate around' the corner at
tbe feed yard. Later on J. W.
Savely** dogs treed the fellow over in
the northeast part of town, but not
for good, as be was not heard of aoy
more. It Is supposed there were at
least two men, one Inside and one
acting as a guard outside. Nothing I
missed at the salooo. Erj.csij
had his six-pistol but was afraid u>;
use It, in fear of a return message.
