t he People’s Sor.g of Peace.
The grains is green on Bunker Hill,
The waters sweet in Brandywine;
1 he sword sleeps in the scabbard still,
1 he farther keeps his flock and vine;
1 hen who would mar the scene today
With vaunt of battle field or fray?
The brave corn lifts in regiments
1 en thousand sabers in the cun;
The ricks replace the battle tents.
The banner tassels toss and run,
The neighing steed, the bugle's blast,
1 hese be but stories of the past
1 he earth has healed her wounded breast,
The cannons plow the field no more;
The heroes rest! O, let them rest
In peace along the peaceful shore!
They fought for peace, for peace they fell;
They sleep in peace and, all is well.
The fields forget the battles fought.
The trenches wave in golden grain;
Shall we neglect the lessons taught.
And tear the wounds agape again?
Sweet Mother Nature, nurse the land,
And heal her wounds with gentle hand.
Lo! peace on earth! Lo! flock and fold!
Lo! rich abundance, fat increase.
And valleys clad in sheen of gold!
O. rite and sing a song of peace!
For Theseus roams the land no more.
And Janus rests with rutted door.
—Joaquin Miller.

Meade County, Kentucky, Nov.
15, 1879. In 1902 he came to
Bixby, where he lived with his
parents, until June 1918, when
he moved to Fowler Kansas, in
search of health. In October ol
that year, he moved to Colorado
Springs, Colorado, where he
died March 15,1915. He is sur-
vived bj his father, mother, two
brothers and a sister.
You never saw such good over-
alls for the price as Rankin’s of-
fer for only 7§ cents.
Adding More Room.
The Forry Drug and Jewelry
store is being greatly enlarged
by connecting the room formerly
occupied by the Alamo Cafe,
with that long used by the drug
store. This will give an addition
of twelve feet to the front and
relieve the congestion in the old
room, thus giving greater space
for the display of goods.
Easter Bazaar and Luncheon.
The Ladies Aid Society, of the
M. E. Church, will give a Bazaar
and Easter Luncheon at the
home oi Mrs. Rimkiuj Saturday
afternoon, April 3.
