I0Y TRAIN WRECKERS.
ttempts Made Saturday and Sun-
day to Wreck Katy Trains.
Two attempts were made
recently six miles north of
Hominy to wreck the Katy
[passenger trains. The iirst
attempt was on last Saturday
'when an obstruction composed
of scrap iron, rocks, horse-
shoes and other matter was
discovered on the railroad
1 rack by the section men and
J-empved. The second at-
tempt, was made on -Sunday in
1 lie same manner. The en*
gineer of the south bound
passenger train fortunaly saw
lhe obstruction in time to stop
i lie train and remove it. The
railroad authorities were no-
li tied and marshals Wiley
llains and John Freeman of
1 his place went to the scene
last Sunday afternoon to make
lm investigation. They dis-
covered tracks of the would-be
old cousin who is visiting him
from the Creek country, are
the guilty parties. The boys
when confronted with the
charge at first denied it, but
when cross-questioned and
swoatted for about two hours
one of them weakened and
confessed their guilt. The
father of the Martin boy. who
is a member of the Holiness
church, took a deep interest in
getting at the truth of the
matter. Upon confession of
guilt, by llis son. he extended
his arms in the air and cried:
“Glory to God, oh boys,
you’re guilty, glory to God!”
It seems that the boys after
placing the obstructions upon
the track, would return home
and crawl tip on the barn roof
to watch results. They
would give no fedson for their
un-
derstand the serious nature of
their Offence. Owing to their
ilain wreckers and followed action and did not seem to
them to the home of Geo.

Notice To Public
For the p ist three months
we have been engaged by the
Hominy News Publishing Co.
as editor, manager foreman
and devil of the Hom’ny News
and in that capacity have come
to the conclusion that Hominy
is the place we are going to
tie to, With this end in view
we last Saturday purch ised
the Hominy New s, its good
will and subscript on list and
it will hereafter be publi died
as an individual enterprise.
Since our advent here our first
impressions of the town and
people have been confirmed.
We believe Hominy is a town
with a future and upon that
belief we cast our anchor with
a determination to hold fast
and do our utmost to hasten
those results which will add
stability and prosperity to our
town. The political policy < f
the News will remain unchang-
ed. Not that we intend to
run a narrow, prejudiced demo
cratie sheet, incapable of com-
prehending of perf nuning
those functions consistent
with hontst journalism j but
will father occupy that broad
plane of democracy which con-
secrates itself to public utility,
confident in its judgement of
right and wrong and unfalter-
ing in its determination to
maintain truth and expose
Wrong regardless of conse-
quences; Prudery nor saint-
liness are net our cardinal
virthes. Neither are we a
plutocrat or a demogogue.
We don’t expect anything
from the piib'lic only what is
ours and honestly earned:
The news is still bhe dollar a
year and subscribers should
subscribe; If we happen to
be out hustling “items” when
you call; just throw your dol-
lar over tile transom, We will
get it when we sweep up, if it
aint ’till SpHng.
Yours Respt.
W. J. Kendall.
