last week, the following resolutions were adopted.
“Whereas, we, former members of the Rainbow division,
are now called upon to fulfill our obligation as private citi-
zens with the same faithfulness which we were expected to
show toward our country during the war: and
“Whereas, we were humiliated during the war by the
un-American attitude of Senator Thomas P. Gore, who
continually gave encouragement to the enemy: and
“Whereas, the junior senator from Oklahoma first showed
his disregard for the welfare of the soldier in 1916 when he
fought and spoke against an increase in pay for those of us
who were then serving on the Mexican border and by impli-
cation declared that to give them more pay would stigmatize
the men serving their country as “sunshine patriots” and
“summer soldiers;” and
“Whereas, the junior senator, by introducing an amend-
ment to the war revenue bill in August, 1917, during the
progress of the war, aought to hinder the government in
transporting troop3 overseas and attempted to release every
slacker, conscientious objector and disloyal person who de-
sired to avoid service; and

more than he helped, bringing shame and humiliation to the
hearts and eonseiences of every patriotic Oklahoman, now

“Resolved, that we, the members of the Oklahoma chap-
ter of the Rainbow division veterans, in convention assem-
bled this day at Tulsa, Oklahoma, do hereby emphatically
condemn the un-American and unpatriotic attitude and course
pursued in the United states senate by Thomas P. Gore;
“And further, that we do express our belief that the
junior senator in pursuing a course of obstruction to his coun-
try’s cause did notin any sense represent or reflect the views
of more than the few, and only the views and attitudes of
those whose sympathies were pro-German, un-American
and unpatriotic.”
