A Former, Who Shoot# a Man, Makes An
Attempt to Get Away
It is reported from Heaston, an iso-,
lated town in Canadian county, that
Charles Berlew, a recent arrival from
TllrnniR, was shot and killed in a four
handed fight and Rodney Sipes was
dangerously wounded. The shots are
said to have been fired by Elisha P.
Barker, a farmer. The trouble arose
over threshing machine crews using
wateT from Barker's well. Barker,
after the killing, took his wife behind
him on a fleet horse and was captured
after he had placed a long distance And
the South Canadian river between him
and his pursuers.
