past, he was duly adjudged bankrupt
under the Acts of Congress relating to
bankruptcy: and he has duly surrender-
ed all his property and rights of property
and has fully complied with all the re-
quirements of said Acts and of the orders
of the court touching his bankruptcy.
WHEREFORE HE PRAYS that he
may be decreed by the court to have a
full discharge from all debts provable
against his estate under said Bankrupt
Acts, except such debts as are excepted
by law from such discharge.

paper printed in said district, and that
all known creditors and other persons in
interest may appear at the same time
and place and show cause, if any they
have, why the prayer of said petitioner
should not be granted.

that the Clerk shall send by mail to all
known creditors copies of said petition
and this order, addressed to them at
their places of residence as stated.

They decided, however, to do what
they conld, and n corps of nurses were
summoned. Mr. Walker, although in-
formed that ho must die, kept up an
outward appearance of cheerfulness In
order that his wife and their little son
might not be overcome by the blow.
For sis days the fight lasted, Mr.
Walker steadily growing weaker.
Scores of citizens of Macon called at
bis home, for he kept "open house" in
order to bid them nil farewell. He also
made bis will and wound up all bis
business affairs before the poison had
him fully In Its power.
Mr. Walker sank Into a gradual de-
cline and passed away peaceably sev-
eral hours after becoming unconscious.
All Macon went Into mourning on
learning of his death. While the fight
lasted prayers for his recovery were
offered up In all the churches of Ma-
con.

Double Transmitter a Help In Long
Distance Talking.
Great things are claimed for a new
style of telephone which recently was
put on exhibition at the Academy of
Sciences In Taris. The new Instru-
ment is the Invention of Dr. Jules
Glover, a French physician.
While investigating the question why
the sounds of the voice were imper-
fectly transmitted, as a rule, over long
distance telephone wires Dr. Glover
was struck by the fact that vocal
sounds, coming from the larynx, on
arriving at the palate were spilt up
Into two streams, one of which emerg-
ed at the mouth, the other at the nose.
An Ideal transmitter would take up
both streams of sound equally, but it
was found that this was by no mean*
the case with ordinary instruments.
Dr. Glover therefore devised a queer
looking receiver with an extra micro
