Chairman Hamon and Secre-
tary Wells have issued the fol-
lowing letter to committeemen
over the state:
"At a meeting of the execu-
tive committee at Oklahoma City
on January 15, it was decided
that February 12, the birthday
of out martyred president Lin-
coln, the first republican presi-
dent, should be a day of general
republican rallies in the new
etate of Oklahoma.
"The plan is for a meeting to
be called in every voting pre-
cinct in your county for the pur-
pose of organizing a republican
club, one that would be of as-
sistance to the state organization
in the campaign. Have good
strong republican apeakera pres-
ent, and when the organixatiuu
of your precinet Is completed
s*nd republican headquarters the
names of officers and members
of saoh olub and their pystofllce
addresses.
"This matter is greet import-
ance to the party and you should
give it your immediate personal
attention and call the attention
of your loeal committeeman to
the time and importance of hold •
ing thess olub meetings and see
they are held and are properly
supplied with speakers."

out and acting on this will be
found notice from the precinct
committeeman. Every republi-
can is requested to be present.
It will be tried to obtain a good
speaker on that day.
Hickman—Currie
David A. Currie, vice presi-
dent of the Farmers' and Mer-
chants' bank and a prominent
real estate man, and Miss Nellie
Hickman, both of this city, were
married Sunday night at Qua-
nah. They returned to this city
Monday morning.
Little Girl Dies
The nine-month-old daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Turnbsugh
died »t four o'clock Monday
morning of throat trouble at the
home of her parents in West El-

Young Couple Elopes.
Riley O Jell, aged 20, and Mies
Belle Carmack, a young lady of
about fifteen summers, both
prominent young people of
Odems, were msrried last Wed-
nssday a week sgo st Vernor,
Texae, but the marrisge did not
take place until after the couple
bad had a strenuous time dodg-
ing the girl's father whose ire
hsd been raised by the ytiung
lady being taken from under the
parental roof. The father of the
girl after finding her gone im-
mediately went to Mangum and
foiled the plane of the Beau
Brummet there. The would be
bride and groom then hied to
Quanah where they has also bssn
headed off by the father who was
worked up to a fever heat and
was determined his daughter
would not become a wife just
then. Vernon was the last place
left, so we believe in the old say-
ing, the third time is the charm,
and they had very little trouble
in having the eeremony per-
formed. By the persistent efforts
of the young man made in get-
ting the girl he loved and the
way the father was beaten, it is
safe to say on the return of the
pair to Odema, the father recon-
sidered and thinks now his new
son-in-law will prove a good and

Chapman—Kelley
Alonzo Kelley and Miss Nellie
Chapman were married at 11
o'clock Sunday morning at the
Frisoo depot at Quanah, Rev.
Janell of that city officiating
The groom is a prominent young
man of tt»is city and is well and
favorably known. The bride is
ihe daughter of J. M. Chapman,
weigher of the Farmers Union
Cotton Yard. They will reside
Girl Maimed for Life-Two Others
Seriously Hurt
Kev. 0. 8. Miller who until a
month ago when he removed to
Ijockney, Texaa, wae a farmer
'six miles northeast of Eldorado,
has certainly had his shars of
troubls since going to the Texas
, town. l-ast wsek Miller placed
hie three children on a noree to
ride to sohool. Ths animal be-
came unmanageable and threw
the three violently to the ground.
Laura, 10 yeare old, had her
back brken; Jason, 12 years old,
leg broken, while Eddie who ie 8
was more fortunate than hie sis-
ter and brother and bad no bones
fractured but fell on hie faoe
knocking out several teeth and
badly laoerating the same.
It is very doubtful if Laura,
whoss back was broksn,will sur-
vive the shock.
Erick Gutted by Fire
Last Sunday morning at two
o'clook fire was discovered in the
rear end of the old Minton build-
ing at Brick, and before the wild
flames could be subdued seven
or eight business houses snd
contents burned to ashes.
