Church Make# Leading Address

A FIZZLE TO

"Foxy Grandpa1
In a well attended maw meet-
ing of the citizens of Eldorado
at the Baptiat church last Sun-
day night notice was served on
the bootleggers that they had
better be a little more careful of
their operations in the future.
Rev. 0. W. Stewart made the
opening address, taking as his
text, the trial of Christ before
Pilate. He then proceeded to
make some pointed statements
on the subject of civic righteous-
ness, good citizenship, bootleg-
ging and other matters of vital
concern to the body politic. He
stated that while it might be a
hard thing to prove, he knew
that whisky was being sold in
Eldorado, and that it is the duty
of every law-abiding citizen to
stand behind the officers of tills
town and help them in every pos-
sible way to put an end to boot-
legging. He further stated that

he had no fight to make on the
officers as long as they did their
duty in enforcing the laws; and
concluded his remarks by sug-
gesting the organization of a law
and order league or a vigilance
committee of 100 good men,
whoee duty would be to assist
the officers in detecting the il-
legal sale of whiaky.
Rev. Stewart was followed by
Rev. C. M. Powell, pastor of
the Baptist church, who made a
short talk concerning the prohi-

was followed bv impromptu re-
marks by W. C. Austin and

subject under the caption. "Good
Citizenship."
1 WOULD IF I COULD. HIT I
OUT-—AMD HE doidt HE DOES THE HANDSOME THING
BY THE NEWLY WEDDED.
They Come te Eldorado and Fit Them-
selves Out for Housekeeping.
Grandpa Gives Them the
Benefit of His Evepe-
opera house there was a min-
strel which was a howling sue-
►—"I don't think." The
boys started on the road of suc-
cess by the way of the stage,
but no doubt went home in des-
pair after the warm reception
they received in the "public"
appearance. "A prophet is with-
out honor in his own country."
But an amateur home talent
minstrel is without honor any-
where else but at home.
Dixie Kid did very well, but
without support, his efforts ap-
peared bum to the public.
It is reported that these semi-
furcial amateurish minstrels
hail from Olustee. We can not
vouch lor the authenticity of
this statement At least it is
not very good advertisement for
a town, therefore, we hardly
think Olustee guilty, and further-
more a home talent from Olustee
once made several hours very
pleasant for the people of Eldo-
rado.
Hoping that a diligent watch
will be kept on the back gate
in the future and that due notice
will be given us if any such
should slip through, we remain,
sadly stung, Eldorado.
"Miss Summer*, Polly I-er-
dare-I."
But the speaker took a header
over bashfulness only to hear a
sweet "Yes. Charley."
"Can I aspire to-er-to-that
is-."
Again a lapse into silence fal-
lowed by an encouraging, "Yes
Charley."
"Oh if I miirht only hope to-
er-to-."
Another failure of language.
It was seeminglv a hopeless
case, and it might have been on-
ly for a demure, "Charley I have
said yes twice if you mean it
I mean it too and—."
And to this day, that young
man insists that he popped the
question. All Hfoifc "happened
way down East It wasn't long
before there was a wedding, and
not much longer before there
came a letter from Polly's Foxy
Grandpa in Jackaon county,
who wrote effusively of bis de-
light at her exhibition of what
he called "grit" and proposed
if the young couple would locate
at Eldorado, he would start
them in life as a wedding pres-
ent Of course they accepted
and were soon bidding their
friends adieu.
A few days subsequent to the
above a traveled-stained party
arrived hi Eldorado. Our friend,
Foxy Grandpa, was in charge
and led them straightway to the
Frisco Hotel.
