Where Price and Quality Meet.
< W. Cole, who owns a hand-
some place on the outskirts of the
city, is beautifying it with a large
addition to his orchard, and like a
j practical man is planting it in the
way he believes will do most good.'
Last week he employed a young
man to bore (m holes, each about
three feet deep and 20 feet apart.
In each of these holes, after being
carefully tamped in, was exploded
j a half-stick of 40 per cent Ked
Cross dynamite. The hole was
filled with water several times to
' reate a reservoir, after which the
I trees were planted. Mr. Cole did
11 the greater part of the work him-
i self, to be certain that it was done
right.
The progress of these trees will
| j lie watched with considerable in-
[j terest, not only by Mr. Cole, but
1 many others who are interested in
this method of planting trees. It
certainly-would seem as if the wav
to make trees live in Jackson
< ounty has at last been found, if
; those who plant them are careful
1 to get plenty of water into the dy-
namited holes. '
