He Wasn't There
Oklahoma City pulled off another of
those stunts for which it is famous,
the first of the week in suceding in
routing T. R.'s train direct from
Chandler to Oklahoma City, thus
depriving- the people of Guthrie, and
incidentally, the First Congressional
District, of an opport unity of seeing
and hearing the most progressive
candidate for presidency that the
uatiou has ever produced. And
after they got him doira there, it
cost just one dollar a head to pet a
glimpse of him. Roosevelt'.? man-
ager and backers had advertised
that they would be at Guthrie Sept,
24, at 11 a, m., and that Mr. Roose-
velt would speak to the people at
that time Bat Mr- Roosevelt was
no* there—he had other engage-
ments, It »eems—and coursequently
the large urowd of enthusiasts were
disappointed The Guthrie com-
mittee had worked hard to secure
T- H.'s visit, and the out-of-town
people seemed to understand the
situation full J, and hold no blame
