out pains. The communion is
to be communion with one an
other, as well as with Christ: its
essence is two-fold love ol
Christ, love of the brethren
The first communion looked
forward to Christ's death. All
later communions have looked
backward upon liis death, and
forward to his second coming in
glory.
Since the communion is the
Christian's highest joy, it is al-
so his highest duty.
Test your communions. Do
they draw you nearer to Christ':'
Do they bring you nearer to
men? An empty Lord's Supper
is the most empty thing on
earth.
The best preparation for re
c» iving the bread is a lite spent
in feeding on tiie stregth of
Christ, and the best preparation
for receiving the wine is a life
speut in the joy ot Christ.
Is Christ found at the table in
your home' It not do not
think to find him for yourself at
a table of the Lord s Suppet.
No meal does us so much good
until we get up an appetite for
it. Let us cultivate an eager
longing for the Lord s Suppei.
Ih the early days, when the
disciples broke bread from
house to house, how anxiously
they must have scanned their
numbers to see what additions
had been made by conversion,
and what dear farms were ab-
sent through persecution! I he

A New Organization.
Vai.ley, November, 17. We
just closed .1 three weeks meet

sulted in an organization of ;>o
disciples of Christ; 21 by >tate

great victory when taken in view
of the surroundings. The tire
baptized holiness people, have
been holding forth at Dixie for
the past four years, and had
boasted that other preachers
might jusi as well stay away,
for they had sway. The great
secret of the meeting is that the
good brethren came from four
to seven miles to church, and
attended every evening, and
helped in every way posible.
The brethren have raised
