Family Reunion
I will send you a report of l?ro. I. T.
Hesser's family reunion which 1 had
the pleasure of addressing on Nov. 12.
As is Bro, Hesser's rule the family
met in annual reunion with the par-
ents on Nov. 12, that being their wed-
ding anniversary, having been married
forty-tive years. Their children were
all present on this occasion. It was
the first.time that all have been per-
mitted to meet in reunion, as hereto-
fore some were unable to get there,
from some cause, but on this occasion
all were present, thirteen in number—
nine boys and four girls. All are ma:-
ried but one—Van, the youngest. 1
till you it was a happy family, and a
family for which parents to be proud of.
The father called his children imo
line and introduced them to the 2(K> or
m ire guests, and then presented the
usual presents, whieh were, a beauti-
ful gold watch to his son Van, and a
nice clock toa daughter. Brother Hes-
s.t presents like presents each year to
the two eldast and going down to tlie
next two each vear.
Of the entire number, the nine boys
and the four girls, they are all bright,
healthy people, and, best of all, they
are, with one exception, Disciples of
Christ. One son, .lames Iiesser, is
sheriff of our connty.
There are of the children, grand-
children and great-grand-children, «4
in number.
After reading the family tree, and
an address on "Influence," by Bro.
Johnson, the photos of the family were
taken, tables spread and the large con-
course sat down to a tine dinner.

Piiof. W. II. Matlock,
Sec'y. of Disciples' Home Corp'n.,
Norman, Oklahoma.
Mv Dear Sir:—I have read with
interest your communication '-Shall
the Christian Church Build a Home
at Norman." The need of such an
institution is urgent here, even separ-
ate from denominational interest.
This opens the way for affording pn
opportunity to so plan as to secuie
some Income from the start. Such i n
institution in the hands of competent
persons could do inestimable good to
the students as well as promote the
welfare of the denomination establish-
ing it. I assure you that the policy of
the Board of Regents in administering
the affairs of the University will a'-
ways be to promote all well considered
efforts to add to the culture of the
students of the University. Your en-
terprise, therefore, would receive full
consideration and cordial encourage-
ment and support. The old problem
of meeting the requirements of state
institutions for religious and spiritual
culture needs t.» be immediately and
earnestly considered by all religious
bodies, and 1 am glad to note this
