cles and great was the laughter
and merriment when one of the
marshals would discover this
"contraband of war" and compel
its unfortunate owner to shell
down the coin.
After nearly all the company
had run the gauntlet of the in-
spectors and paid over their flnef,
the more serious part of the en-
tertainment was taken up. After
prayer by Brother Blackwood an
excellent ^program was rendered
consisting of of songs, music,
reading, speaches etc.
' Supper was then announced
and such a supper you never
saw. Each person took his plate
and passed down the table, while
the ladies loaded it with all the
good things on the bill of fare.
Even those who had been com-
pelled to pay the the heaviest
fines declared that they had
doubly avenged themselves at
supper for the table fairly groaned
under tne weignt of the dainties
heaped, upon it, while the prices
were such as would make restaii-

chicken at five cents, potato chip
at two cents, cake and coffee at
five cents each and other things
to numerous to mention at similar
prices.
After doing ample justice to
the viands the guests expressed
their hearty appreciation to Mr.
and Mrs. Huber and the ladies
and departed to their various
homes, hoping that the Woman'3
Home Mission Society Would give
another entertainment soon.
