Another Prohibition Election
i and High Li
Ofcourse we all know it is dry, hot and discourag-
ing but the fellow that sits down and whimpers
v/hen things don't go his way, never does much.
With a few showers, we will make cotton, alfalfa,
sorghum, kaffir, and milo, hence will do very well if
corn should fail. Be these things as they may we
have lots of confidence in this country, have filled
our big store with high grade Hardware ol every
kind and have put a price on every article that is at-
tracting customers far and wide.
L V v u/1 „ we are able to do bet-
Do IOU know VY ny ter by you than firms
in larger towns and cities? We own our building
hence pay no rent. Our store is in a block of solid
brick buildings that are almost fire proff, this gives
us a low rate of insurance. Our taxes are much low-
er than others pay, cost of living is less than other
towns, and our trade territory is in the best section
of the county. Put all these things together and add
to the sum total our saving by buying in large quan-
tities and you will readily see that we are in a posi-
tion t'n v ender vou the best service in Jackson County

Don't Growl, the country is alright, so are our Ooods.
A Local Option
cense Organization with he
quarters at Oklahoma City is
preparing to launch another
campaign for the iepeal of our
prohibition laws. It goes with-
out investigation that tneir
pleas for repeal will be that pro-
hibition is a failure and then
some more. We will be assured
' that high license and regulation
will put things right.
AH that have a chance to
know are aware that in the
capital and other large Towns the
law is held in contempt, even
police offering to conduct stran-
gers to places where liquor may
be had. Parenthetically we
would add that the foregoing
remark is not a mere assertion,
as a reliable gentleman of Blair
was, according to hit> own state-
ment met by a policeman in 0.
C. and both being of the same
fraternal organization was offer-
ed guidance to i. place where
these things could be had.
But should the present law be
repealed, would it not open up
a large field for the operation of
the lawless? or would the local
option law be enforced any bet-
ter? Every candid man will ad-
mit it would not. Where a rea-
sonable effort is made to enforce
the present law, it is a fair
success, and where it is not, no
other law can be enforced that
bears on the liquor business.

Mrs. A. S. Someral, living at
107 South Eleventh, has kept an
account of her expenditures for
the past two years. Until the
past two months she has never
been a reader of ads. This last
month she patronized the adver-
tisers only—read the ads care- uocu in lu.,v
fully each night and her bills with perfect success,
for the month of May were $14 I The Blair Drug Store,
less than any previous month
and she really bought more
goods than previously.
This is only one instance of
the savings accomplished
through readii.g ads. There axe
hundreds in the town that we
never hear of. However,
through the merchants that ad-
vertise we find that their busi-
ness is steadily growing.

| Our "Vault" j
Being One of a Series on the Different Forms of Books, Fifing Systems :
and Fixtures of the Hank.
Having at the start purchased a Manganese Steel Safe ;
of the strongest and costliest m ike, our directors decided
that we should have a first class vault and accordingly or-
dered a steel double door for a vault. The walls, top
and botton of our vault are over two feet in thickness and
$ well built, thereby insuring safety for it3 contents in ca*e
X of fire. In the vault we have cabinets and shelves in which
t to file away papers and books pertaining to the bank's own
♦ matters. Also we have cabinets with "pigeon holes" ar-
ranged alphabetically in which to file the valuable papers of
our customers. Perhaps you have noticed that when you
call for any paper or document at our window ve usually
step to the vault and immediately bring it forth. Why can
we do this? Our equipment tells the tale. We try to have
a place for everything, and strive hard to keep everything
in its place.
