640,000 acres of the public lands of : v
the territory. Under existing laws
Oklahoma, when admitted as a state
would be entitled, as a benefit to
her agricultural college, to 30,000
acres of land for each member of
Congress and each U. S. senator
from the new state. At present
Oklahoma's representation would
be three congressmen and two sen-
ators, giving her 150,000 acres for
the agricultural college. The Okla-
homa Agricultural College is an ex-
cellent institution, and should be
liberally supported, but 150,000
acres of Oklahoma land is of itself
a princely legacy, and to want it
swelled to 640,000 acres seems to
us asking & little too much.

The Mangum Hospital has re-
ceived a shipment of two hundred
pounds of surgeon's cotton and four
hundred yards of surgeon's gauze.
Dr. Border says the manufacturers
bought that cotton from Greer
county farmers at seven cents a
pound, shipped it east and cleaned
the sand out of it, then sold it to
him at fifty cents a pound.
