J. W. Lawton, editor of the
Arapahoe Bee. has been appointed
postmaster of that town. Mr. Law-
ton is a staunch supporter of Den-
nis Flynn.
The indications are that Ok-
lahoma will soon have a new gov-
ernor. We believe that Governor
Jenkins has been honest and con-
sciences of his administration of
the Terrytory s affairs, but he has
made some mistakes.
Even as independent states. Ok-
lahoma and the Indian Territory
would have populations greater
than some of the eastern common-
wealths of longstanding. United,
they would have a population of
nearly Soo.ooo. which would be
about twice as great as the popula-
tion of North Dakota. South Da-
kota. Oregon. Rhode Island. Ver-
mont or New Hampdiire. three
times as great as that of Montana
orttah. more than four times is
