ledged that, over on the eastern part
of the state, a cross between an In-
dian and a negro made a white man.
If such a thing Is true, then we want
Someone to tell us what a cross be-
tween a rum-soaked Dutchman and
a socialist will be. .
X
The socialist "spieler" who occu-
pied the board here last Saturday,
alleged that the land owner had the
same right to collect his rent from
the land tenant that a highwayman
had to collect his boodle from an hon-
est traveler; that because of the fact
that the land owner has his money
lnvester in the land he stands in the
same relation to the tenant that the
robber stands to the traveler because
of the fact that the robber has his
money Invested in the bludgeon or
six-shooter. Men who wil Imake such
comparisons in the face of honest
men, and expect to retain his respec-
tability <if he ever had any) should be
either tapped for Imbecilitly or be
placed in solitary conflnmeot for the
good of the whole community.
WHO L08T THIS
The devil at the Star office yester-
day found a portion of female wear-
ing apparel, near the Harris Hotel
and he is puzzled to know whether
It is a lady'9 belt or a woman's gar-
ter. At any rate, Ihe can't adjust it
to fit any part of his anatomy, so he
will freely give It up to the right-
ful owner if they can satisfactorily
demonstrate its usefulness.
I? is made cf plain white material,
with an old gold buckle (the gold be-
ing so old that it is almost indistin-
guishable now) set with a daimond
that looks very much like a cross be-
tween the composition of a beer bot-
tle and some of the old colored glass
ware that our mothers use to use.
If it is yours you can have it.

son, Watson, Edwards and Jameson.

In the case of the State vs. Frankie
Ormsby, for adultery, after the trial
had been completed and the case
ready to go*to the jury, Judge Brown

cient information.

TO THE VOTERS OF
GREER COUNTV
I take this means of thanking you
very kindly for the 528 votes cast for
me at the Primary Election held on
the 6th of this month. I am espec-
ially proud of these votes for the rea-
son that I believe that each man who
cast his vote for me did so in the
belief that I was the man Greer coun-
ty needed in the office of county at-
torney. The people, however, selec-
ted another man to fill this office and
in doing so they had many good rea-
sons to believe that their chioce was
a wise one. It is the duty of evety
citizen,of this county to lend his aid
and sympathy, t!bat law enforcement
may be easy to accomplish, and we all
have confidence in the citizentyof
our community, and have the r*ht
to expect good results In the armin-
istration of county affairs for thenext
two years.
I shall be glad to show my appre-
ciation for the many kind deeds and
words of confidence expresed by my
friends in the campaign; so when you
are in Mangum, come to see nie,
make known all your wants, and I
will bell you all about the salt air
breezes on our trip immediately af-
ter the 6th.
