We received a letter a few
days ago from a gentleman in
Arkansas, asking about' a locu-

looking over the Headlight I fail | my shop in theJlartwell budding

granted that there is none there,
as I never knew of a hardware
firm which did not advertise,
even in the state of Arkansaw.

advertising and the volume of

hospitable intentions. Gen. Morteza
I Khan lives in fine style in the aristo-;
i cratle West end, and for the present
i the former Florence Breedon of Bos-
ton, now the wife of Mirza Khan, Per-
sian consul general, is acting as hos-
tess in the' Persian legation. Recep-
tion-days are made known by a quaint
invitation, sometimes in Persian script
unci often in verse. Morteza Khan ia
a man of letters as well as a genial <
host. The lower floor of the legation j
is ready for receptions and several j
Persian students furnish the most al-1
luring music on odd-looking instru-j
ments. The refreshments are another j
attraction. Tea which perfumes the!
entire room is served in tall silver j

Just What Did He Mean?
A saloonist and an anti-saloonist

both, and then he remarked, as he
bade them adieu: You know I hav«
