Heart disease is growing among the
women in certain localities, because
since prohibition is really prohibiting,
they can't stand the groat surprise
every Saturday night when their hus-
bands bring home their pay checks
untouched, by the bartenders.

It is now time for another new fad
among the ladies, and that is this:
"think less about reducing the waist
line, and more about catting out the
waste line."

■ay he can't save any money on ac-
count of the high cost of lining.
One reason why the race of fools
never dies out is that there is always
• fool ready to take a fool's advice.
We have been from time to time
running free propaganda for the gov-
ernment that is close akin to advertis-
ing .and quite a lot of railroad propa-
ganda that is better than advertising.
These railroads and the government
realize the value of newspaper adver-
tising in the country weeklies and
flood us with their propaganda each
jreek. But this week the climax came
when a representative of the railroads
came in and asked us to run a free
advertisement for a sale of thorough-
bred Poland China hogs for somebody
somewhere in central Oklahoma. Say
where in the devil will this thing stop
and how in thunder do thc.ie apostle*
of greed, the railroads and the gov-
ernment, expect us to get our reven-
ues to pay high freight rates and high
taxes? Oh ye inconsistent beggars.
