LOGAN STONE
Socialism advocates an international co-opera-
tive commonwealth in which ttyc four hundred
and thirty million people in China could out-vote
the one hundred million in this country in any
international and world wide contest. Beware of
socialism.
H. H. Stallard denies "each and every charge
brought against the socialists by any writer in
The Antidote." This is easy. But the rub comes
when he cannot refute these charges. Stallard
can't alter facts.
The Antidote is open for the discussion of so-
cialism. If any "cumrid" wants his name in the
pot (by no means the Melting Pot) let him send
in his dope.
"Hot Headed" Stallard says he thinks we should
have called the last issue of The Antidote the
"Anti-Sallard Edition." We neglected to do this,
but if Mr. Stallard will pardon us we will gladly
affix that name on this issue, "just to please the
kids." We are willing to give him all the notori-
ety he wishes (and no doubt more than he de-
serves). Stallard has the honor of being the first
"cumrid" to summon sufficient courage to wade
into The Antidote. We hope he'll get enough of
its anti-socialist hypodermocl^sis to cool hio#
elusive brain, and gladly serve him first accord-'
ing to the old rule of "first come, first served."
Stallard has had no better opportunity to defend
the rottenness of his cult than we will give him in
the columns of The Antidote. We will give him
a chance to show that yre are wrong and socialism
right, provided he is capable of doing so.
o
The Antidote is telling the truth and the whole
truth about socialism. This is what pinches Stal
lard and the Appeal. But The Antidote is merci-
ful indeed and will give them a chance to make
their defense against its attacks on their phil-
osophy if they have any to make.
SOCIALIST PARTY LED BY
CAPITALISTS AND GRAFTERS
By Logan Stone
The socialist party is led by a set of hyprocriti-
cal capitalists and grafters, who do not practice
what they preach. Beginning with J. A. Way-
land and coming down the line to the present
time we find that all the principel men and lead-
ers in the socialist party prove to be either
capitalists or grafters, who do not belong to the
"working class." The Appeal to Reason teaches
that when a working man begins, to save his
money and invest it profitably (that is, if he buys
anything and sells it for more than it costs him,
or builds a house and rents it to another) he be-
comes a capitalist. Now, if the Appeal told the.
truth, Wayland himself was a capitalist for he
stated that he had an annual income of ten
thousand dollars before he 'leerhv ETAOIILIH
thousand dollars before he "ever heard of social-
sm:" apd as for the rent proposition, he said if
ie had to take choice between paying rent ar.d
receiving rent, he preferred taking rent. Way-
and was a rich capitalist and the records show
iiat in 1912 his wealth was $189,125.00
Wilshire is quoted as a millionaire and he did
tot fail to use his money to a good advantage.
Jack London published a socialist book which
ie wanted ten thousand dollars for. This would
uy a good farm v-hich would rent for several
hundred dollars a yeai« or it would keep him ten
years at a thousand dollars a year. Warren is
also a capitalist; and so is Eugene V. I)ebbs. I
am informed that he receives a hundred dollars a
week for editing the Rip Saw, a solialist paper.
This is five thousand two hundred dollars every,
year. This would buy an extra good farm in
Oklahoma; and besides this, he goes over the
country making socialist speeches, charging twen-
ty-five cents admission, which includes a year's
subscription to the Rip Saw. This helps to keep
up its circulation and furnish him employment at
a hundred dollars per month. Sometimes Mr.
Debbs takes in two or three hundred dollars at
one single meeting and the Appeal to Reason
boasts, that at one time he took in a thousand
dollars. Mr. Debbs no longer belongs to the
"working class" that the socialists talk so much
about. He has long since quit them. He now
belongs to the "capitalist class" and to the "class
which exploits labor." I say he belongs to the
class which exploits labor because he publishes
books and exploits the labor of those who do the
printing and binding and he is a capitalist be-
cause he invests his money in the same.
Tichenor, the editor of the Melting Pot, is also
a capitalist and an exploit-*- of labor. He has
published a book which is Entitled the "Life and
Exploits of Jehovah,"—one of the most brazen and
blasphemous books that has ever been published
by a socialist—and is contemplating publish-
ing a million copies of this work. Of course, he
will make a huge profit on these books and wi'l
exploit the labor of those who do the work. I
mention the above characters to show how the so
cialist movement is kept alive. These are only
samples of the thousands who are making their
living by making speeches and publishing booKs
on socialism. Every dollar that is taken in by any
socialist agitator, or for any socialist book, is a
graft—it is just that much money thrown away
by the donor or purchaser, for those who are at
the head of the socialist movment are in it simply
for the money. Take from them the boodle there
is in it and they will not be heard of any longer.
Take from Debbs the hundred (or more) per
month he gats for editing the Rip Saw and the
twenty-five cents per head he receives fropi his
hearers and he will step down and out. These
men are not in the socialist training business just
for iheir health. The socialists prtend to i.e op-
posed to the capitalist system and capitalism and
yet the Appeal to Reason, Rip Saw and mui.y
other socialist papers advertise the capitalists'
businesses in their columns. These sheets are
largely supported by the money that id*paid in by
the capitalists, which they, the proprietors of these
papers, call "blood m<?ney." Now if the money
which the capitalists make is "blood money," why
do these "class consciousf' socialist editors re-
ceive it—are they not hypocrites? When a saloon
keeper is converted to Christianity he quits sell-
ing liquor belause he believes it is wrong, and so,
if a socialist really believes that capitalism is
wrong, he will not indulge in it and will prove hi.c
sincerity by his works. A Christian paper will
not use its columns to advertise a saloon, a gam-
bling hall or any other public den of vice because
it does not believe in such; but a socialist paper
will denounce the merchant or any other business
man who makes profits, as a "thief, robber,
grafter and cut-throat," and at the same time a-1-
v< rtise his business in its columns and cheerfully
receive pay for it. But we cannot expect any-
thing better of the class of liars, grafters and
hypocrites who are at the head of the socialist
party. If the capitalists are so bad and capital-
ism so great an evil as the socialist advocates
would have you believe, why don't they come out
from among them and "touch not, taste not and
handle not, the unclean thing?" When every,
thing is considered, the only conclusion we can ar-
rive at is that the socialist party is headed and
controlled by one of the worst outfita of capital -
its, hypocrites and grafters that the world has
ever known, and are doing all in their power to
deceive the working man and keep him under
their sway so as to fill their coffers with his hard
earned cash. These liars promise the laboring
men things which they know they cannot five
him and do not intend to give, for if they could
give some things they promise it would make it
impossible for them to fulfill other promises
which they make.
NO 'DIVIDING UF' WITH
THIS SOCIALIST
Whether he Uvad so far from civilisation that
he hadn't awakened to the fact that we are not
living in a period of the "dark ages" is not known
but with everything . in. e idence denoting his
political affiliations except the "red card," one of
Hobart's visitors Tuesday created no end of at-
tention on the street during the afternoon. The
visitor himself was not so conspicious, but his
actions created no end of jocular remarks a poor,
harmless Ford automobile. Early in the forenoon
accompanied by half a dozen others, more or less,
the owner of the car drove down main street with
a noise like the approach of a gattling gun. He
drove up in front of the First National bank and
stopped. There was nothing so conspicious about *
this procedure, but when he dragged a log chain,
large enough to hold half a dozen Fords from
cutting up capers, from under the rear seat and
wrapped wheels and locked it with* a big lock,
wrapped it once or twice around the rear padlock
suggestions became rife. This was not all. A
large tarpaulin was then carefully spread over
the machine and the owner of the car proudly
stepped back and surveyed his firey steed. Some
wondered if the car, which must have been a 1913
model and much the worse for wear, actually de-
manded the care of a groom.
Investigation, however, proved that it was one
of the followers of Debs who was apparently pro-
tecting himself against some of the creeds of his
party affiliations. At any rate the car was still
there when the owner started home.—Hobart

cursing the big con>orations, but there are some
mighty good ones, for instance, when your home
