Some Petty Stealing.
Home petty thief has been making
visits to the Convent of the Sisters of
St, Joseph, located two miles west of
the city limits. One week ago the
chicken house attached to the grounds
was visited and all the chickens stolen.
Thursday night a second visit was
made and the yearling heifer calf was
missed. A watch has been set to de-
tect, if possible, the guilty parties, and
if they are discovered they will be
given the full penalty of the law.

WAsniNOTuN, I). 0., April 'JH.—Dele
gate Flynn, of Oklahoma, has suc-
ceeded in passing through the house Ins
bill to provide for the leasing of sec-
tions 13 and 33 in the Cherokee strip
for school purposes. This bill was
passed through the senate, auil it will
be remembered that it was ainemled
there to take the authority for ieasiug
the lands out of the hands of the secre-
tary of the interior and plaeiugit under
the control of a leasing board, to be
composed of the governor, the secre-
tary and the auditor of the territory
until the territorial legislature should
provide permanently for the leases.
Mr. Flynn had some difficulty in ob-
taining consideration for the bill. Rep-
resentative Hepburn, of lows, is object-
ing to all unanimous consent legisla-
tion, and it was with amusement this
morning that the members of the house
saw Mr. Hepburn quietly leave th«
house out of friendship for Flynn and
allow this law to be passed durin; his
absence.
It has been stated in Oklahoma
papers that Delegate Flynn was en-
gaged in securing transportation to
Washington for the Beaumont indus-
trial army being organized in the terri-
tory. Mr. Flynn said this morning
that he had received letters on the sub-
ject from anxious industrials and had
written them that he had no power ur
ability to obtain the desired transpor-
tation for them.
