RECITAL SATURDAY NIGHT.
From Saturday's Daily.
Saturday evening at the Presbyter-
ian church the music recital of Mrs.
11. K. Rickey's class in music wa.s
given before quite a good sized au-
dience, mostly parents and relatives
of the pupils.
It was a success from every stand-
point. and in the rendition ol the va-
rious numbers each of the pupils
showed that they had be u under
careful training and had been thor
oughly drilled in the principles under-
lying music. The music was good and
was excelelntly rendered, ami a great
deal of credit is due Mrs. Rickey for
the creditable manner in which the
various members of the class acquit-
ted themselves.
The class was assisted by local tal-
ent in the entertainment, Miss Eaton
being on the program for a reading,
which was greatly appreciated by
those present. Another pleasing fea-
ture was the rendition of two or three
numbers by an orchestra. Mr. A. A.
Bass was also on the program for a
Bong, and as usual the audience was
delighted with his efforts.
and assure the public that it was en-
tirely unintentional, as we are pleased
to learn of Mr. Brown's success in
graduating. He is a very studious
oung man, and we have no doubt
will some day make his mark in the
world. Again, we repeat, we are very
sorry tbW mistake occurred.

From Monday's Daily.
l^ast. night at the First Baptis
church Sebe Maples, a well known
young man here, occupied the pulpit
in the place of the regular pastor, Rev.
J. L. H. Hawkins and preached
very interesting and entertaining ser-
mon.
Mr. Maples has long entertained as-
pirations to be minister, and judging
from his eforts last night, he has not
been idling away his time wishing he
were something but has been devoting
himself to study during his spare mo

we feel sure that he will some dav
be a great preacher.

oklahoma state fair
From Monday's Daily.
W. A. Lybrand, of Oklahoma City,
was here this morning with the Okla-
homa City boosters, boosting the Ok-
lahoma State Fair, to be held in Ok-
lahoma City on September 27th to Oc
tober 9th. Mr. Lybrand is a very
pleasant gentleman and is very indus-
trious in his efforts to boost the fair.
One feature of the fair that attract-
ed wide attention last year, and will
attract more interest this year, is the
county exhibit department. This ts
a display of farm and garden prod-
ucts and liberal prizes have been of-
fered for the counties making the
best exhibits. By all means Greer
county should be represented in this
department, for it would be a golden
opportunity to show our resources to
the world. Let our public spirited
citizens take the matter up with the
farmers and other classes and see
that we are represented.
