MACK OATES FOR TREASURER
The Oklahoma Democrat is author-
ized to announce Mack M. Oates. as-
sistant county treasurer, as a candi-
date for the office of county treasur-
er, subject to the Democratic pri-
mary, August 1. 1916,
Mr. Oates is 37 years old and was
boru and reared on a farm in Pope
county. Arkansas, and received his
education in the schools of that state,
where he also took a commercial
course. Mr. Oates followed the occu-
pation of farming in Arkansas except
five years he was bookkeeper and
salesman in a business house.
He has been in this county for
eight years, part of the time engaged
in farming, one year as bookkeeper
' for a local concern and then as as-
! sistant county treasurer to S. H. Star-
key since his term of office began_
We do not know better how to tell
you about Mack Oates than by quot-
| ing a local paper:
"Ma^k is a quiet, unassuming, gen-
i ial and courteous gentleman. He
! does not talk much, but is an untir-
, ing. faithful and efficient worker, and
, believes that a public officer owes bis
: time, ability and best efforts to the
• people, whom he was chosen to serve,
j "By his courteous treatment and
| strict attention to business since he
has lived here, he has made many
! friends, who appreciate him as a man
j of high moral character, a good citi-
! zen, and a man that pays strict at-
I tention to business, and as a servant
! of the people who tries to render full
' service for every dollar he receives
as compensation for his labor.
"He is familiar with the duties of
the county treasurer's office, and is
thoroughly competent to discharge
them, and it chosen by the voters to
that responsible position, will con-
duct the office in such a faithful. Im-
partial and efficient manner as to re-
flect credit upon the people of the
county, as well as upon himself. He
asks those not personally acquainted
with him to inquire of his standing,
and will appreciate their support and
votes."
