JEWS TOIITUREp TO OEATH.
Cruelties to Hebrews In the Mas-
sacres in Russia.
Kishineff, Russia, May 15.-Dr. Doro-
schewski, the head physician of the
National hospital at KishinefT, Russia
after examining the dead and wountlei
in the anti-Semite riots in this vicinity, ,
has given several specific instances of |
cruelty. A Jewess named Sura Fonar-,
schi was brought to the hospital with
two nails, seven inches long, driven into
her brain through her nose. One Jew
was brought in with one hip, both an-
kles and both wrists broken, his sever-
ed hands and feet dangling by the skin.
The lips of a Jew named Chanfon were
cut away with a kitchen knife The
ears of a Jew named Selzer had been
cut off and his head battered. He was
made insane.
A carpenter was supprised at wotK
and both of his hand-s were sawed orr
with his own saw. The eyea of a Jew- (
ish girl were cut out with a pocket
knife. One woman, after trying to de-1
fend her children, was thrown upon the j
pavement and cut to pieces. Small
children were flung from the windows]
and trampled upon by the mob. Forty-,
seven were killed immediately, eighty j
died of their injuries and 300 are under ;
treatment. Many will be cripples for
life. Four thousand Jews without food
or shelter and it is impossible for them ,
to leave.
WEEKLY CROP BULLETIN.
Oklahoma, 0. T., May 25.-Heavy to!
excessive rains occurred over the sec-
tion on the 18th, and moderate to ex-
cessive local thunder showers over Ok-
lahoma on the l9th, 20th, 21st and 23rd ,
accompanied by hail. Day and night j
temperatures were above the average
and caused a more rapid growth of the j
various crops. !
The excessive rains caused much,
damage to low land crops by overflow j
of streams, and many upland fields
were badly washed: the hail caused
much damage on the 23rd to crops and
fruit in localities.
The storm of the 2:ird covered a good
portion of Central Oklahoma and the
excessive rains and consequent high
waters caused much damage to road
beds of railways, and in the cities by
flooding of basements and bursting of
sewers; the full extent of dtmage to
crops and property cannot as jet "
ascertained. ,
Wheat, rye and oats were benefitted
by the warmth and rains and are
heading out, and doing well, the gener-
al condition of the crops ranges from
fair to good; wheat and oats are gen-
erally heading out short.
Corn replanting has been about com-
pleted; the crop has a good color, but
is generally backward with a poor to
fair stand a- low growth; cultivation
has been retarded by rains and the
crop is very weedy.
Cotton replanting continues, with
seed scarce; the plant is coming up to
a pool to fair I tand and making slow-
growth; some chopping h?s been done.
Kaffir corn, broom corn, cane and
millet are being planted, and early
planted are coming up to a fair stand
and making a good growth.
Alfalfa ar.d grass are making good
growth with some alfalfa being cut
and giving a „ood yield; range grass is
in good condition and stock is doing
well. .. i
PotrU><\ and gardens are doing well i
Fruit has improved and prosj^eo^
continue for a fair to good yield; straw-
berries and early cherries are being
marketed with fair yields reported.
