Filet, «n«l Cool Weather.
People are apt to think of th« hot 1
nmnwr months • he tlnie when ;
measures Bhould l>f." taken for pro-,
lectio nafiainrt th« daTiK'"1 • nJ'~
Haiicf of flies Of course it. Ik then
that they swarm in greatest multi-
tudes, that the annoyance caused by
them Is most evident. Vet because
they art* most abundant In tihe hot
weather, they are then most diffi-
cult to fcet rid of. With files, as well
with othw faotoJK effecting hy-
older brother bellered John to be in'
nerlous physical trouble, were road4
they brought tears to the eyes of John j f
Klente and sanlltarv conditions, pre-
vention Is much better than cure.
And practical results of benefit can
be obtained by an anti-fly campaign
in the cool weather. It should be re-1
mom bored that the flies which swarm '
in the summer were originally bred j
from those permitted to live through I
the full and winter. Killing a single'
fly now mean many thousand fewer I
flies next spring and summer.
When the weather is cool enough
to be unpleasent for' the flies, but:
not so cold as to numb them, they 1
aro especially apt to seek the shel- j
toT of the house. lOffective screen-
ing is of course the best, protection j
against tliem. But screens are like-
ly to b0 imperfect, some flies will:
get past those barriers and precau-1
Hons should be taken against such |
Intruders.
Household Precaution*.
There ,are three general methods .
of geitting rid of flies in the house-
hold -poisoning, trapping and swat-
ting. Each of these methods has its !
advantage and disadvantages. The ^
trapping of flies either in meclini-
eal traps or upon stickly preparation
is unslightly und unpleasant and of-
ten only partially effective. Swat-
ting is effective, but requires contln-
uuus application and energy. The
poising of riles, when carried out
with proper precautions and 'the use
of proper methods, seems the most
effective measure and with the fewest
dlsiul vantages.
