A Trip to the North Pole
I always had wanted more than
nythtng else to go and visit Santa
la use but I never could make up my
nlnd to go so far alone, however one
lay in November I decided I would do
vhat I had been longing to do for
nany years.
I began to get ready. I didn't have
nuch to do only make myself a fur
■ult for I knew very well it would
be cold around the Arctic Circle.
Of course I was so hsppy to think
I was going to see Santa Clause that
I never once thought until Dec. 2,
1920 (the day 1 was to start) thst
i had no way to go.
1 thought and thought and finally
decided to make the trip In my worn
)Ut "tin liszle". After filling It with
plenty of oil and gas I started.
When night came I was only twen-
y miles from home but I thought I
vaa almost to my destination. It nev-
«r occured to me that it would take
ue so long to go. Isupposed that I
could get there by Christmas but
leverthless I didn't arrive until Dec.
20, 1921.
I came to Saskatchewan, Canada
in June and supposed I was almost
here but I thought perhaps I should
nqulre how far I had to go but
he first man I asked stuttered so
:hat I could not understand him.
The second was a chlneman snd I
ould'nt understand him either so I
gave up the Idea of inquiring the
way and again started on my journey
I had not gone far when I broke an
xle, ran out of gas and had to walk
five miles in order to get some.
The next calamity befell me just
;en miles from the North Pole the
radiator frose. I could'nt I could'nt
jlame it much though (or I was al-
uost frozen myself. I climbed out of
he car and walked the remaining
distance.
When I came to 8anta Clau's house
I knocked snd he yelled "come in"
I went in and he and Mrs. Santa
brought me something to eat. After
I had eaten he showed me all of
.he toys he had for the boys and
jlrls and he slso showed me the
reindeer that pull his sleigh. I visited
here for a month before I started
lome.
My trip took three years but I have
lever regtteed my visit to Santa
Clause.

- CHRISTMAS
Again the spirit of Christmas Is In the air. There Is a softening
of hearts one toward another; there Is a new flash of happiness in
the eyes; a new firmness is felt in the grip of o r daily handshakes
something a.vin nu to whisper to us th^t ue ar t lu the inld*i of
A season so sacred that It is not to be compared with any other time
of the year.
From that time a moat two thousand years ago whea the Oae
whose birth we are soon to celebrate stood upon the Monnt and gave
to humanity a new rule—a Golden Rule—the appoach of Christinas
finds the whole world with a song upon its lips. Men may war a*
gainst men; dtsesse may sweep vast sections and the grim reaper
may swing his scythe with an unfailing hand, yet the approach of
Christmas brings back joy to the heearts of the stricken, bolsters
them up for whatever fate may have in store, and makee them, for
the season, as light and happy-hearted as the children who romp
about our feet.
There is something about tho Christmas s«a«on It has not been
given man to under8tand. Changed conditions, a greater desire to
live and to be of service to those about us; a hope and a prayer
for greater blessings of health and prosperity for all humanity these
fall upon us in a shower along about this time each year, and yet w«
pass through it still unable to fathom ita mystery. We know, aome-
how, some way that it la the spirit of the Master of all Mankind com
ing into our hearts, we seem to feel that His smlls la being shed
upon us. and that we are receiving s benediction of happiness which
which fills our hearts to the fullest.
With the arrival of the Yule tide season once again we want to
take this method of thanking in our own feeble way all those to
whom tbla greeting may come for the cheer and helpfulness they
have passed on to us during the year closing. We want to hope
that this has been a prosperous and s happy year for them we mant
to extend to them our prayer that the year to come may be equally
so. We sre passing this way but once. If we have said or done
that which would lu a measure return the kindness shown us, we
are glad. If we can say or do In the future the tehings that will
lighten the heart of those about about us, we shsll be happy.
May Providence continue to shield and bless you and yours.
May your Christmas be a happy, a merry, a contented one. And
may you be spared to celebrate many more of them.
