It will be remembered that in
February last a boat belonging
to M. C. Young was stolen from
his Island Farm, midway between
hero and Eufaula. During the
past week Mr, Young located his
stolen property in the possession
of Hugh Nails, on North Fork,
recovered the same, and caused
the arrest of the thief The ac-
cused was taken to Eufaula, but
was released on technical grounds
there being some irregularity in
the issuance of the warrant un-
der which tho arrest was made.
Two young men, Dave Header
son and Arthur Haughey.are ac
cessory to the crime, and the
latter has turned state's evidence

The City Council met in spe-
cial session Monday night to hear
reports of the marshal and board
of equalization, and to arrange
for the collection of the city taxes.
The marshal failed to report, and
the finance committee was iu
structed to insist on his being
present at next meeting and mak
ing jeport. with the further in
formation that if he does not the
necessary steps will be taken to
compel him to do so,and to make
a financial settlement. The board
of equalization reported the taxa
ble property valuation in the in
corporatcd town of Canadian for
