June 24 was a great day for Guth-j
rie—the booster "boosted, everybody i
•hurrahed and 240 new members were
added to the Chamber o£ Commerce.
"Who is afraid of a hoodoo now, who
is any longer superstitious when two ,
booster committees Of 13 members1
each organized on Friday with a
'black cat for a mascot can make a ;
Tecord like that?
It was a great day for boosters and
the knockers took to the woods long j
before noon.
The booster committees met at. 9
a. m. and were soon busy In every
ipart of town signing up new mem-
bers for the Chamber of Commerce
and stirring up enthusiasm. The com
tmittees bore doiwn upon every man
not wealing the whit* badge of the
Chamber and never took no for an
answer.
So great was the enthusiasm every-
where that several of the ladies join-,
ed, the first lady member to enroll,
.being Miss Nellie Robertson, a depu-j
ty in the office of Federal Court
Clerk Dolde.
The Score.
All day the committees worked, re-
fusing to even stop and partake of
the dinner that had been planned for
them and when night came the score
for the day was as follows:
