Our object in giving this con
?est is two*fold, first we want to
ascertain who are the most popu-
lar ladies in this vicinity, and see
which one will be the most popu-
lar candidate in this contest;
and to the young lady receivu g
the largest number of votes we
are going to give as a prize a
Grand Upright Piano, a prize
worth tne best *-ff >rts of any am
bitious young lady in this vicini
ty, and if you will glance over
the list of special prizes you will
find that we intend awarding
every oandidate in the race some,
thing in the way of a special
prize for her efforts. Second, by
eiving this contest we expect to
place our names in every home
in this vicinity and .et people
know we are alive and soliciting
their patronage.
There is a handsome prize for
each and every candidate and
every oandidate may win all of
these prizes if they will only try,
so don't let the small prizes be
your object — win all of them.
We have seen many oontests all
over the United States but have
never seen a contest run before
that offered suoh liberal prizes
for so small an effort.
A WORD TO PARENTS.
Should you fail to out out the
nominating blank publlfbod in
iMMA whiflh ja (rood for 1000
votes, and bring it in or mail it to
us and nominate your little
daughter or your grown up
daughter in this grand contest,
you will be doing them a great
injustice. They will never have
a chance again of securing such
a prize as we are offering for
such k small amount of work,
there is absolutely no chance but
what they will get well paid for
every minute they put in secur-
ing subscriptions for this paper.
Our prizes are of the best quality
and are easily worth the value
that we state they are worth. We
figure that we are giving each
candidate that enters the contest
33 1 3 per cent on every dollar
that she brings us. Take for in-
stance this diamond ring. It is
worth $50. If any oandidate
brings us 150 subscriptions she
receives this diamond ring absol-
utely free. This is giving her a
credit of 33 1 3 per cent on every
dollar she brings us. It only
takes a little work to secure sub-
scriptions and you are oheating
your daughter or your friend if
you do not nominate her for this
contest. Remember the winning
of the special prizes has no effect,
on the piano exoept to help you
to win it. You may win a half a
dpzen of these special prizes, and
your votes will still count on the
closing day on tha big piano con-
made a try at all they will ver/
likely have one of these beauti-
ful pianos. - Do not overlook the
fact and nominate your daughter
at onoe.

HOW tO WIN THESE GRAND PRIZES.
There is going to be some
hustling done, and if you expect
to win the Grand Prize in the
Popular Contest yon will have to
get an early start, and keep at it
during the entire contest. If you
become interested in this con
test, it will be because you ex-
pected to win the Grand Prize.
No minor prizes should be your
goal, but every energy should be
used in an effort to secure this
piano; something that will be a
real oomfort and a pleasure—-
something will be proud of and
to you will be given the task.
There is nothing impossible, if
we only do and dare.
Got started early and keep at it
late, and the one who does the
greatest amount of hustling will
be the one to carr; off the trophy.
If you are interested drop a card
or letter or call us by pHbne and
if you do not fully understand the
rules of the contest, or the man-
ner of securing votes, we will be
glad to have yoq call and give
you any assistanoe possible.
