against Chenault because it is for the
element in this county which does not
approve of a too strict enforcement
of law. It knows by every rule of
common sense, gratitude, decency
and fair dealing that from it an-

It has received twice what it should
have gotten in the way of remunera-

rendered. And as to its insinuations
that Chenault and our commission-
ers are not fair and that the Herald
has been getting printing it was not
entitled to there is but one term ap-
plicable In this Instance—the Roose-
velt short and ugly word A man
who claims such is either densely Ig-
norant or a wilful and malicious
liar, and it is ten shots out of ten
the latter. It is wonderfully pecul-
iar that the Times has waited until
the last week or two before election
to make its charges and it can have
no other meaning than its real mo-
tive at heart of endeavoring to get
rid of Dave Chenault. The Times
has never been an instrument for
good in its locality, has never helped
any worthy official and has always j
at heart been for the very things the
good people of Texas county want
to rid out of this section. The news-
paper low down and contemptible
enough to want to lie paid for com-
mon decency is no better than the
highway robber who gets you in
quarters at his mercy and takes from
you that which is not his. Shame
on you. Kreiger. Do a little work
for common decency and forget for
a minute to hold out your paw be-
hind you. Work for a principle,
just as the Herald hag always done,
and then, maybe, there will come out
of it all a God send in the way of
patronage you never once dreamed
of or hoped for, just as fell to this
paper, seemingly Providential-like,
for in all its light it has never been
so contemptible and stinking as to
have in view a pecuniary gain
