THE GUYMON HERALD.
The election of town oftice is
will occur < n the 17th inst It is
11 a proposition thai the hu-ine«
men of the town should get
together on and elect men who
will stand for the best int**
of the town Up to date the tow n
has beer, free from graft. and it
should be continued in that
manner Tie-town at the putt
tiuie i*eicepti«*ial, froiu the fact
that the business inen sUnd
together on all propositions for
the tuvn's jiood: there are n«
factions or differences when the
town's best interests . re at stake
This fact has contributed much
to the progress of the tow n. and
the Herald trusts that it will
continue There will be no
attempt to inject party politics
into the issue, and it is only
important that business men i
are elected as trustees, of which
|vd are to be chosen, and the> i
should be taxpayers and men
who have business interests in
the town. In addition to the
trustees there will be elected one
town clerk, who will act as
treasurer and assessor, and one
justiceof the peace The business
men of the town should stand
together on the day that the votes
are polled.
The public watering trough in
town is surrounded bj posts,
plac ed just far enough apart to
prevent people driving in with
teams and ramming the sides of
the trough with the ends of wagon
tongues Every person wab ring
at the trough is supposed to
unhitch. Tuesday evening Rev.
Marshall drove up to the trough
without unhitching, andof course
got mixed up with a jiost He
deliberately pulled the post up
and threw it on the ground and
drove away. The act was bad.
and he example was worse, for
if all persons should do likewise
it would cost the town company
$ft or more a day to keep the
watering place in repair.
George English was in town
Monday for the first time in
several months and proceeded to
get gloriously drunk, and after
doing some tall swearing about
town went out to the home of
his mother. Mrs. Eads, two miles
north of town and proceeded to
make a rough house by breaking
every chair and dish ou the
place, and threatened his mother
with violence. Also struck M rs
Hrundage, who was staying at
the place Mr. Hrundage and
Mr. Gallagher, who were there,
downed George, and when they
did so Mrs. Eads took his part
They let him up and lie again
proceeded to make a rough house.
This was repeated several times
till finally Messrs. Gallagher and
Hrundage came to town after
officers. Deputy McCord went
out to the Eads plaee but Georg«
got into a field of feed stuff and
made his getaway. A mistake
was made by Mr. McCord in not
locking English in the calaboose.
Monday afternoon, and it is a
plan that should be adopted and
rigidly enforced hereafter,
because there is no excuse for
that kind of conduct.
Fred Hood left the first of the

when Fred returns with his

good wish that it is possible to
offer.

adding that she is one of the best
