Say, Mr. Farmer
Blake Lbr. Co.
€has. T. Whittaker Nominated.
Hon. Chas. T. Whitaker, Texas
• county's republican candidate for
the nomination for Judge of the
-19th'Judicial District, was nomina-
ted for that position fit Woodward,
Okla., Saturday night after a con-
tinuous session"*)f the convention,
fasting all day and until nearly
midnight. All through the hot
-contest Judge Whitaker held the
lead, and once or twice came
within one voteof being nominated
but could not gain enough votes
to carry off the prize but slipped
• back into the old order" and it tfas
not until the secretary called the
. roll for the 151st time, that" eight
of the Woods county delegates
j.pulled off from their favorite and
Whitaker proved the choice of
the convention by acclamation.
This conventicn was the hottest
• convention ever held in northwest
• Oklahoma. There were three can-
didates in the Held; Judge L. T.
Wilson, of Alva, Hon. O. W.
Wybrant, of Woodward, and the
. nominee, Chas. T. Whitaker of
Texas county, but now that the
contest is over, the waters of peace
. and quietude have covered over
• the contest as is always the case
• in republican political matters.
' We predict that Judge Whitaker
• will receive the entire vote of the
republican party and be our next
. district judge.
In securing a district judge from
"Texas county it meens much to
this section; it moans actually
. more than most people suppose.
■To;have .a judge of the district
. court rigVit at hand in times of
•legal disquietude means much.
•One thing, for instance, is the
railroad facilities. Texas county
<is on the main line of one of the
best railroads in the vest. If
, Judge Whitaker is elected
greatest of comfort. Then, too,
the people demand that this office
be filled by a man competent to
discharge the many duties which
confront him. He must be a law-
yer, who is able and competent.
Ho must command the respect of
the members of the bar and of the
people as well. In short this Is a
responsible position and no incom-
petent man could be tolerated for
a second in such an office. In
such office political honors are a
matter of no importance. In mat-
ters of location, which are of vast
importance to all the county and
along the railroad, there and in
point of qualifications, Chas. T,
Whitaker is the logical candidate
for this position. Think it ovei
Your politics should not control
your vote in this instance for the
point is a competent candidate and
his location.
We trust that the voters of this
district will take in consideration
the location of each of the candi-
dates, their abilities, etc., and
trust that when they cast their
votes Sept. 17, they will roll up a
handsome majority for the Texas
county republican nominee for
judge of this district.

J. D. Bnrmore of Hugo ton,
Kan., was in Hooker Wednesday
when a Frantz -'button worn by
the writer attracted his attention.
He shook handswnd said he was
glad to meet a friend and sup-
porter of his 41d friend Frank
Frantz. He stated that he had
blerkod in the flYantz store 13
years ago. Later he served
through the Citban war with
Frantz and is familiar with the
record 'of' the wan and soldier.
He states that ir. private, military
and in public life our governor
has always been a man to be re-
spected and trusted.
As he talked he warmed up to
the subject and talked freely of
the manly qualities of the gover-
nor and of his confidence in his
ability to fill any office in a credit-
able manner.
Mr. Barmorehas been a resi-
dent of Kansas lor the past year
so loses the opportunity to vote
for his old friend, much as he
would like to do so.
Republican Speaking at Tyrone
A republican meeting was held
at Tyrone on Wednesday night.
The speakers were Roy S. Barnum,
nominee for clerk of the district
court; F. L. Mackay, nominee for
county surveyor; N. O. Stephen-
son, Dominee for county judge,
and H. P. Fluhart, editor of the
Hooker Republican.
Extracts from the republican
platform were read by F. L.
Mackay and a good speech given
by H. P.. Fluhart on "Founda-
tions," pointing ,out the weak spots
it will' in the constitution. Mr. Barnum
.not be necessary to travel 15 miles
initoe county. The work tan bo
.attoaded to in this county. As
casss <jf injunction, mandamus and
•other extraordinary remedies must
come before the court in chambers.
This o'oe advantage should make
.all Texas county citizens lay aside
.political animosities and rally to
the standard of our candidate.
cleverly presented his claims to
the voter*. Mr; Stephenson made
a clever speoch urging tlie young
voters to support the party which
has done so much for Oklahoma,
and which stands for the square
deal and honest government.

Come out and hoar the issues of
the campaign discussed and meet
.the candidates.
for Clean Politics
The 'democrats of this county,
in opening their campaign for
election, have seen fit to start one
of mudnslinging, personal abuse
and misrepresentation, and while
we realise that such campaigns are
often made by democrats, yet we
feel that the respectable element
of that party does not: approve of
such a course on the part of evil-
minded and mis-guided men, who
so far forget themselves as to be-
come character assassins, (the
most contemptible and miserable
wretches on earth).
In this connection we desire to
•say in behalf of the republican
■candidates that we are personally
acquainted with each and every
one of them, and that we heartily
endorse them as good, clean,
efficient and honorable men.
While we expect to use all honor-
able and gentlemanly methods to
securc their election, we,positively
will not conduct a mud-slinging
campaign, no matter .what little
tactics the democrats may resort
to.
The republican party has a suf-
ficient number of voters to carry
Texas county if they will but go
the polls and exercise their right
of suffrage. And I appeal to every
individual member of the repub
lican party to appoint himself a
committee of one and to put on
the whole armor of republicanism
and get the voters out to the polls
to the end that an honorable ticket
composed of true and honest men
will not go dow® in defeat at the
hands of evil-minded and corrupt
politicians on September 17, 19Q7.
Yours for republican success,
J. H. Langston,
Chairman Texas County Repub-
lican Central Committee-
Whitaker the Republican Nomhice
Chas. T. Whitaker, who has
been nominated by the republicans
as their candidate forjudge of the
district court of the 19th Judicial
District, is a native born Mis
sourian, 36 years of age. A
graduate of the University of Kan-
sas; Iras been practicing law . in
Oklahoma ever since 1900. For
the last two years, he has been a
member of the bar of Beaver
county, and is thoroughly conver-
sant with the existing condition of
affairs in northwest Oklahoma.
We believe from legal ability
there is no better. That he is
thoroughly competent to discharge
the duties of this office, and if
elected that he will give every one
a square deal; that he will not al-
low the dockets of the court to be
encumbered with unnecessary and
petty litigation; that if elected he
will relegate such as this to its
proper place. We believe that
under his charge, the court costs
will not be duly enlarged, but
tliatthey will be reduced to a
mipimum. We believe that he
will deal .justice to all persons,
rich or poor, and regardless of
their political faith; that to every
man that is called to answer in
zens to land a good and-prominent
man for this office.
No sane man cares to drive 45
/miles overland to court, especially
when this can be -attended on the
railroad lino, in one of the best
.counties in northwest Oklahoma,
