! Tulsa, Okla., Dec.4. Breaking:
I open 22 boxes in the Tulsa post-
i office, early this morning un-
! known robbers secured £22,000
worth of checks and drafts,
j About *0,000 of the total amount
I was in cashier's checks taken
from the postofflce boxes of the
Central National bank and the
I Farmers' National bank.
I The police and county au-
j thorities have been working on
the case all day without success.
Every clue as to the identity of
the robbers and the location of
the stolen mail seems to have van
ished.
The robbery was discovered
shortly before fi o'clock this
morning by employes of tin
postofflce. Each piece of mail
I in the 22 boxes had disappeared.
1 The combination on the boxes
j had been worked.
Several times within the last
two years the local postofflce
has been robbed. Each time it
I has been by small boys. Suspi-
' c.ion rests upon two youngsters
today, but no arrests have been

Durant, Okla., Dec. 3.—With
two deep gashes underneath his
heart as a result of a cutting
s< rape, Charles Covington, 25
years old, a chum of David Flood
who was killed one month ago, is
seriously perhaps fatally injured
It is persumed that either Rob-
ert Braugh, or his father, J. H.
Braugh, did the cutting.
Covington had trouble with
young Braugh early in the day.
Covington slapped him and
Braugh swore out a warrai.' tor
his arrest. Soon after the two
men met on the streets and
Braugh demanded an apology
from Covington.
They berlin to tight when J. H.
Braugh, the father, and a dozen
,/ir more men rushed across the
street and parted them. As the
fighters were separated, Coving
ton staggered back, bleeding pro-
fusely from two knife cuts.
Conflicting testimony is given
out by the score or more men
who were near Covington when
he fell. Some state that the elder
Braugh drew a knife and struck
Covington while others claim the
young man did the cutting. Moth
declare that they are innocent.
.I II.Braugh, the father, is City
Treasurer of Durant. He was
arrested on a charge of assault
I with intent to kill. He was ar
' rained and released under $'>00
