of the Republicans at the primary Aug. *od.

We are are authorized to announce Albert
Eawder as candidate for the olllce of County
Commissioner of the First District subject to
the action of the Republican voters at the
August primary.
We are authorized to announce -J. B. Jenkins
as a candidate for County Superintendent sub-
ject to the action of the Democratic Primary
We are authorized to announce Geo.
Barbe. of Tyrone for County Commissioner of
the First District of Texas county subject to
the action of the Democratic primary.
We are authorized to announce Zack Cain as
candidate for county commissioner for the first
district subject to the will of the Democratic
Primary.
We are authorized to announce T. M.
Latham of Guymon. Okla. as candidate for
Sheriff subject to the action of the Democratic
Primary.

W. R. C. is feeling corres-
pondingly proud.
Miss Lois Campbell ac-
companied the ladies home
from Alva and will visit for
the next two months with
her sister, Mrs. E. D. Pease.
Arrangements have been
made to have the Tyrone
Band out in full force next
Monday. They will be as-
sisted by Parker Bros, and
two players from Liberal.

Everybody Come to the
Opera House Monday. May
30th, 1910 at 2 p. m. The
local G. A. R. and W. R. C.
will meet for the Decoration
Day exercises. A good pro-
gram and plenty of music.
The G A.R. and W. R.
C. will meet at 9:00 a. m.
Monday, May 30th, 1910 and
will form a possession and
go to the cemetery to decor-
ate all soldiers' graves.
Everybody is requested to
come and take part in the
ceremony.
Let everybody turn out
Monday and help make the
day a success for the Boys
who wore the Blue. They
will not be with us much
longer so let us honor them
while opportunity is ours.
Mesdames Mathews, Davis,
Hand, Clutter and Holman
returned Tuesday morning
from the Convention at Alva
and report a delightful time;

Joe McCune sold a team of
work mules to Frank Akers
last week.
Grover Rucker made final
five year prooof on his claim
last Monday.
Geo. A. Duvic, the barber,
has been numbered with the
sick this week.
Wm. Mayfield and J. W
Shaffer arrived in Tyrone
last Thursday after a sojourn
in PoncaCity.
The Methodist parsonage
and the J. C. Christman
residence have been treated
to new coats of paint.
J. B. Marshall, a Demo-
cratic candidate from Kuhn,
was interviewing his brethren
here last Endav.
A. J. Curtis, J. W French,
John Franzke, and Minne E
Bishop have been credited
with renewals during the
past few days.
J. W. DuRain and Lee
Floyd Returned last Saturday
from an overland trip to
New Mexico. They were in
Clayton and vicinity and re-
plenty of rain there.
Another shower fell here
Wednesday of last week and
also one of about the same
weight on Friday afternoon.
The latter was accompanied
by scattering hailstones.
Charles Young and family
and Mrs. L M. Readshaw
were visitors at the Seward
County Capital last Thurs-
day.
Archie Mathews returned
to Tyrone Sunday after a
year's absence 4'abroad." He
has spent most of the year in
Kansas and Colorado.
Our reporter failed to get
O. B. Curtis' named listed
with the fishing party that
returned last week but O. B.
says he had just as much fun
as any member of the party.
J. B. Jenkins expects to
begin upon his campaign
tour this week. We under-
stand Lee Floyd will take up
J. B.'sduties with the Akers
Drug Co. during his absence.
Claude Fuller of Floris,
Okla., L. White, of Sterling
City, Texas, W. T. Randies
of Lorena, FranK Simmons
of Route 2 J. Redger, of
Route 1, Fred Hagaman of
Route 3 are new readers of
the Observer.
Charlie White had us en-
roll his father's name on our
subscription list last Thurs-
day. He lives at Sterling
City, Texas. Charlie recent-
ly returned from down there
and reports the weather nice
and warm, fishing fine and
that he had a most enjoyable
vacation.
M. A. Stevens, of Tyrone,
who is farming Dr. James
McMillin's land at that place
attended the meetings here
this week and exhibited some
fine fruit that grew on their
place. There are apples,
peaches and other fruit, but
the plums, which are speci-
mens of the wild sand plum
developed into a hardy
variety, are the best. The
twigs are full of fine half
grown fruit and Mr. Stevens
says the trees will have to be
propped to keep them from
breaking.—Goodwell News.

Preaching at the Baptist
church in Tyrone next Sun-
day, May 29th, both morn-
ing and evening by I he
pastor.
A. W. Crandall finished
putting on the ceiling at the
Christian church last week
and the first service was held
in same Sunday. The com-
pletion of this building gives
the Christian people a very
neat and attractive edifice.
W. T. Randies of Lorena,
was in town Saturday mak-
in arrangements to get a
header to cut his 500 acre
wheat crop. With favorable
conditions from now on he
will make a fair yield. Mr.
Randies expects to soon
abandon his pioneer home,
having a new six room resi-
dence under course of con-
stuction.
In this issue appears the
announcement of A1 Lawder
as candidate for commission-
er for the First District of
Texas county subject the
action of the Republican
primary. A1 is our present
commissioner and as he has
worked for the be best inter-
ests of his district he will no
doubt receive the nomination
without any opposition. His
honesty is unquestioned and
as he now thoroughly under-
stands tli© duties of the office
he will be bettsr qualified
than ever to serve the people
of his district.
