TWO KINDS OF CITIZENS
Patriotism is manifested in many
and various ways. Some people
are willing to die for their coun-
try and a few are willing to live
for their country, which is much
harder. Some are eager to show
their patriotism by holding a job
at a fat salary and some are wil*
ling to vote the party ticket
straight just because it is the
party ticket. Patriotism, says
Walter Williams, is often another
name for pride.
The small ways in which pa
triotisfn may be shown seldom at
tract attention. A soldier attacks
the enemies of hie country and
we call the soldier a patriot. But
it is patriotic also to cut down the
weeds in your buck yard. The
8 'ldier gives his life in a day, but
the scientist who gives his life in a
generation is also patriotic.
Two kinds of citizens are in
every town—patriots and traitors.

Oklahoma can gather about their

think of the Great Father now as
having "forty-six campfires"
instead of thirteen as in those
Colonial days.—From "The Story
of Oklahoma," by Joe Mitchell
