Filed Petition m Bankruptcy.
The Club Drug Co. has filed a
petition in bankruptcy and closed
ita doors. The liabilities are
about $400 representing about
a score of creditors. The assets
are sufficient to cover same, we
learn. Mr. Griggs is a good
business man and we hope to see
him represented in business cir-
cles again soon.
THE RAIN.
Water Not a Scarcity—Cotton Is
Slightly Damaged.
The gins, especially the Mar-
shall gin, has been hampered
since the beginning of the season
because of the scarcity of water, j
but the Tuesday rain supplied
the deficit filling the wells. The j
McMillan tank that supplies
about half a dozen reaidsnoes
in town with water through a
hydraulic system ia in better
shape for the supply than in
some time. Stock water ia more
abundant and a godd 8eason is
in the ground and grass will
hump itself until frost. Those
who desire to put a portion of
their cotton stalk land in wheat
are accommodated.
Cotton has been damaged to a
slight extent, perhaps, in llie
way of beating it out of the bolls
and damaging the fibre, as well
as delaying the maturity of the
plant, but to no great extent.
Cotton gathering has been
cheoked, but with a strong force
of pickers from Texas the
period of cessation will be amply
made up.
