An Ordinance to Provide for an Occu-
pation Tax.
lie it ordained by the President and
Board of tbe lowu of Cushing, O. T.
Every person, llrra, co-partnership or
corporation engaged in the busimss or
occupation of retail dealers in goods,
wares or merchandise, banking, loan-
ing moneys on chattels or reul property,
within tbe corporate limits of the town
of Cushing, Payne county, O. T., shall
hereafter pay Into the Treasury of said
town the sum set opposite their res
pective names, each month, as occupa-
tion tax, the sum shall be due and
payable on tbe first day of each month

Ad Ordinance Probibiting Stock From
Kunuing at Large iu the Town Of
Cushing, O. T.
Be it ordaiued by tue President and
Board of Trustees ot the town of Cush-
ing, O. T.
skc. 1. N o person or persona shall
be permitted to let any horSe, mule,
ass, cow, goat, swine or sheep run at
large withiu tbe corporate limits of
said town,and no person shall be per-
mitted to picket any horse, muie, cow
or ass, in any street or alley, or picket
thein in such a manner as to allow
them to stray into any street or atley,
ot said town.
sac. 2. It shall be tbe duty of tbe
town marshal to take up and Impound
any stock found running at large with-
in the corporate limits of said town,
aud auy stock found picketed in tbe
streets or alleys, or any stock so picket-
ed as to allow them to 6tray into auy
street or alley. Tbe town marshal
shall take up all stock so found, and
impound them in a safe and secure
place, and feed aud care for them.
Aud no person or persons shall be al-
lowed to take possession of such stock
until they shall have first paid the town
marshal the sum of 50 cents per head
lor each and every day that auch stock
shall have been impounded. The town
marshal shall pay all expenses for the
feeding and care of such stock, and
shall be allowed all fees collected as
compensation for tbe same.
Sec. 3. Any person or persons who
shall take possession of auy stock im-
pounded, witiiout tirst paying tbe fees
tor impounding the same, shall be
.guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon
(conviction thereof, shall",be tiueii in
any sum not less than one dollar nor
moro than ten dollars and costs.
Bkc. 4. This ordinance shall be in
force ani effect from and after its pas-
sage and publication as required by
law.

person or persons, association, firm, co
partnership or corporation to engag<-

boundary iiues thereof, without tirsi
having made application and obtaiued
a license therefor from the President
aud Board of Trustees of said town of
Cushing.
Sec. 2 Any person or persons, firm,
co-partnership or corporation, desiring
to encage in the business of selling in-
toxicating liquors at retail within the
town of Cushing, or witbin two miles
ot the corporate limits thereof, shall
first present his or their application for
a license to the president d board of
trustees of said town, which applica.
tton shall state tbe time when he or
they desire to commauce aaid business
and tbe lot and block in said town on
which it ia proposed to conduct such
business. Such license shall not be is-
sued for a period greater than one year
nor less than six mouths and shall in
all cases terminate with the liceuse is
sued by the Board of County Commis
sioners of Payne couuty to said appli-
cant, aud shall be at the rate of SlOO.Oo
per annum, payable semi-annually iu
advance. If upon presentation of the
application aa aforesaid it shall sati
factorily appear to said President of
the Board of Trustees that aaid appli
cant has complied with tbe provisious
of Chapter 47 of the statutes of Okla
homa, aa amended by tbe act of the
Terntorial Assembly, passed and Hp
proved March 0th, 1893, then upon pay
ment by eaid applicant to tbe treasurer
of said town ol' tbe amount of saiu
semi annual installment, and tbe pre.
seutation of the treasurer's receipt
therefor to the clerk of said town, said
clerk shall issue to said applicant a li
cense, under the corporate seal of aaid
town, permitting said applicant to sell
Intoxicating liquors at retail
witbin tbe corporate limits, or witbin
two miles of the corporate limita of
said town, upon tbe premises described
in said application. Said liceuse shall
run from tbe' first day of the month in
which the same is Issued, and upon the
failure to pay auy semi-annual install
ment within five days after tbe same be
comes due and payable such license
shall stand revoked and cancelled.
Sec. i. All money paid into the
treasury for licensee aff aforesaid shall
become a general fund, subject to tbe
appropriation' and payment of am
debt, obligation or liability of said
town, as may be determined by tbe
President and Board of .Trustees of
said town, at any regular or special
meeting thereof.
Sec. 4. Every person licensed as
provided by this ordinance who shall
sell or give away any malt, vinojjs or
spirituous liquors, or any intoxicating
drinks to auy minor, apprentice ^ ser
vant under the age of twentxr~on<
years, within the corporate limits of
the towu of Cushing, or within two
miles thereof, shall be deemed guilty ot
a misdemeanor, and when eonvicted
thereof Jined in the sum of ten dollars
for each and every offense.
Sec. 5. Every person licensed under
the provisions of this ordinance who
shall sell or give away any intoxicating
liquors on the day of any regular or
special election, or any town elec-
tion, or on Sunday, or who shall keep
an open saloon after midnight, or open
the sama before five o'clock in the
morning witbin the corporate limits of
the town of Cushing, u. T., be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and
upon conviction thereof shall be fined
in the sum of ten dollars for each and
every offeuse.
Peo. fl. All ordinances or parts of
ordinances in conflict with this ordin
ance are hereby repealed.
Sec. 7. This ordinance shall be in
foroe and effect from and after its pas-
sage and publication mb required by law..

Bo it ordained by tbe President and
Board of Trustees of tbe Town of
Cushing, O. T.
Seo. 1 Whoever shall be guilty of
horse racing, fast riding r driving on
any street or alley, or wituin the cor-
porate limita of the town of Cushing,
O. T., shall be decaed guilty of a mio-
demeauor, and upon conviction there
of, shall pay a fine of not less than one
nor more tban ten dollars.
.Sac. 3. This ordinance shall take
effect and lie iu force from and
after its passage and publication.
