— Mr. A T. Noble, father af Tom
aud Glras Noble, v ho were preseui
when Bill Doolau was killed, called ai
tho Herald office last Tuesday aud
gave us a true report or tho killinu
Hill Doolau wa known to b« visiting
iiis wife at Lawson quite frequently
and wat seeu leaving hor homo ou the
morning of the day betore the oue on
which be was ki le. . The next night
Which was Monday, deputy marshals
Heck Thomas, the four Duuu boys,
Ue«i, Dal I, George aud Jolm and (J has.
and Tom Noble, concealed themselves
iu the grass near the road about 300
yards from the Lawaon P. O., hoping
.to surprise BUI Doolau and effect his
capture. At about ten o'clock they
saw some one comiug along tho road
whom iu the bright moon light they
all recognized as Bill Doolan. He
was Walking, loading his horse by the
bridle rein and held his Winchester in
bis hand a* If expecting an attack.
As soett as he arrived to a point op-
posite the marshals they commanded
him to halt, but instead of doing so
tie turned toward them and discharged
his Winchester, the ball striking the
ground bei ween Chaa. and Tom No-
ble. Then the marshals shot and r.iz-
ed him- to the ground. His body was
literally riddled with buckshot. Only
one Winchester ball struck him and
thai passed through tho fleshy part of
his shoulder. The shot which killed
him was fired either by Heck Thomas
or Bee Dunn, as they both had sh ot
guns loaded with buck shot. There is
uo truth in tlie report that Mm. Dunn
came out to where the marshals were.
She did not appear upou the scene at
all.
