STATE CONVENTION-
The republican party in one
of the most spectactular conven-
tions ever held in Oklahoma last
Thursday, elected delegates to
the national convention at at
Chicago, and endorsed the can
didacy of Theodore Roosevelt
for president, elected George
Priestly of Bartlesville National
committeeman and elected James
A. Harris State committeeman
The convention elected B M
Parmenter temporary chairman
and later permanent chairman.
The convention seated all of the
Taft deleg*ates which not allowed
a seat in the temporary organiz
ation. George Priestly and James
A' Harris were placed in nomina
tion resulting in Priestly 'a elect
ion by a vote of 411$ to 187}
The committee on resolutions
vj were; J. G. Rails, M A. Tucker
Lawton, A. R. Museller, Paw-
huska, Emory Brown lee, King
fisher, and C. K. Cary Taloga.
The resolutions were quite
' lengthy and indorsed the republi
can presidents, from Lincoln
down to the present time, and
7 justly condemned the democrat ic
administ ration in the Btate of
Oklahoma for their mismanage
ment of the affars of our State,
for tbe creation of a multitude of
unnecessary offices, the squand-
ering of thopeblfa reveeOea, the
maintainable* ofe vast army upon
t tie payroll of tbe State, the en
actmentof useless and unnec-
essary Jaws, the debauchery ot
our institutions of learning for
political purposes, and the laying
of exborbitant taxes, smoubting
often times to dOnfiscation
Tbe resolutions endorsed George
G Priestly, for national com-
mit teman and instructed the del-
egates to tbe Chicago convention
to vote for Theodore Roosevelt
for tbe nomination for president
of the Unit d State*.

TAKE A LOOK,
At our New Hats, Shirts' Ties,
AT WH1TENBERGS,
ROOSEVELT'S NOMINATION.
It is really amuseing to read
some of the dope handed out by
tbe little two by four democratic
newspapers at this-time In^ re-
gard to the nomination of Col.
Roosevelt for president of tbe
United States. As ususl these
little fellows print columns of
mail order dope end howl until
tbey are black In tbe face in
order tok«epa the people from
making fools of themselves and
nominating Mr Roosevelt and
thua breaking a precident estab
lished as theyelaim by Washing
ton and which would no doubt
be disasterous'to the welfare of
tbe people in general. Another
amusing thing about these fell
ows is their support of president
Taft. Really we beleive that
most of the, democratic county
papers in this part will endorse
the administra*jpn of President
Taft if this Roosevelt agitation
is kept up long enough. Now
our idea is that if tbe republican
narty or a majority thereof want
Roosevelt for president that they
will nomiaate°Mid elect him with
out asking these little fellows
anything about itund if the ma
jority want president Taft fur
tbe bead of tbe ticket then it
will be that way. Col Roosevelt
baanotbeen nominated by the
republican party and we beleive
thetifcwonid be wise for these
little fellows to save their space
and ammunition until after tbe
convention at least What a
funny position they would be in
sfter their eudcrsment. <>t the
president, should he be tbe no
